Per Jake Fischer:
The Hawks continued to be described as one of the more active teams in trade dialogue around the NBA. Hunter, John Collins and All-Star guard Dejounte Murray, in addition to starting center Clint Capela, continue to be mentioned by team personnel as viable trade candidates, with Hunter appearing to be involved in most of the Hawks’ possibilities entering draft night.
Boy, I wish the C's could get him. His defense will replace the loss of Smart, but at the wing position, an area of need. He shoots the 3 a decent clip.
DeAndre Hunter is another Hawks wing I don't think much of. I don't like his defense. Too slow. He needs to play PF but he doesn't have the size for it. His rebounding is awful (only 4rpg in 32mpg). His passing is mediocre (1.4apg despite taking 12 FGAs per game). His shooting is mediocre (35% 3PT% medium volume). His scoring efficiency is below par (56% TS% vs 58% league average).
He is a moderate bench player talent wise. Reputation wise he is a quality starter with low level star potential. Performance wise he is a moderate bench player.
I am not even sure he is as good as G Will. At least G Will is a legit sharp shooter and frankly a better defender in my book too.
I don't think Atlanta has much talent in the wing. I don't find D Hunter or S Bey impressive. Or Jalen Johnson. Their young guy AJ Griffin might be their best wing prospect.
