How much faith do they have in Pritchard if they are looking at bottom of the barrel guards?

Then again they may be thinking of a scenario where Brogdon misses games injured and now Pritchard is your #2

That's more my fear. Worst case scenario with Pritchard is we try to upgrade from him at the trade deadline, worst case with Brogdan is not being able to replace him and having a weak guard rotation
I'm bitter.

"Showing interest in" Austin Rivers is pretty benign.  Of course they are looking into a range of options.  Rivers is an 11 year NBA veteran who has started 184 regular season games in his career.  I don't see the need for him but it is no shame to say he is potentially better than Pritchard.  He is certainly better than Davison.

With the signing of likely to be new fan favorite Jay Scrubb to a 2-way, it seems to me that Champangie is even more likely to be waived or added to a trade.   Scrubb can sit at the end of the bench with the towels and give us at least as much as was expected from Champagnie.  So if Rivers is added, he would replace Champagnie, not Pritchard.  I don't see it happening, but it is a reasonable option to at least check in on.

If we can get Giles on a 2-way, to me, that would be a real nice add.  He has the potential to play into a back up PF role.  If we can get him in and have a good long look, while still keeping the TPE and the last roster spot open, that allows for a good look at Giles and then the flexibility to go after a vet later, if Giles does not hold up.  I think we need a bench PF piece, but we don't need it right at the start of the season.

Minor update to the roster status with the signing of Jay Scrubb:

Roster (14)
White             Pritchard           Banton
Brown            Brogdon            Champagnie (NG)
Tatum            Hauser              Brissett
Porzingis        OPEN                Walsh
RWilliams       Horford             Kornet (NG)

2-way (2)
Davison (PG)
Scrubb (SG/Wing)
OPEN

Exhibit 9 (0) :
OPEN
OPEN
OPEN

I have added open spots for Exhibit 9 (training camp) contracts.  I think the rules are that we can have up to 20 total, which includes regular contracts and 2-way.  Right now, we are at 14 Roster, 2 two-way, and 0 Ex-9.

I see Champagnie as on the bubble, all the more with Scrubb signing his two-way, but no need to do anything with him right away.  Only $50,000 guaranteed on 1 Aug and then $350,000 on opening night.  His contract offers a lot of flexibility.

Walsh isn’t a PF. He’s barely over 200lbs. Needs to put on 20-30lbs to play that position.

Swap Brissett and Walsh.  Walsh in year 2 or 3 may be strong enough for a small ball 4 but he absolutely needs to get in the weight room.

That last two-way spot is interesting to me. I'd like to bring both Harry Giles and Vincent Valerio-Bodon to camp to see if there's anything there.

Was VVB injured early?  Why was he cemented to the bench while other scrubtastic guys got consistent time?

I've been wondering the same.  When he played in that final game he looked better then champagne, bean etc.

Had to be an injury, right? He was much more impressive than the other wings. Bigger, more athletic, way more fluid with ball-in-hand. Looked like he belonged. Same age as Champagnie (both 4 years younger than Bean).

It seemed like the Giles on a 2-way thing was a sure thing due to Tatum's friendship and the adding of a 3rd spot, so I wonder what the hold up is. Either the Cs never actually wanted to do it or Giles actually has other options he's considering?

I completely agree. I don’t think this rumor means much. As you say, it may be nothing more than a call to his agent to see if he was still available. I don’t think it is likely but for example, if Prichard is traded or something who knows maybe backfilling with Austin Rivers is something they wanted to check out.
