Unfortunately I think we’re stuck with Joe next season too

Ownership aren’t idiots. If they knew there was a risk of an early playoff exit that they could fire Joe afterwards. The fact that they extended him seems to tell me they think he’s “learning” in his rookie year and will get a fair shot next season after a full offseason.

Their biggest mistake was extending him around the ASB. I wonder if optics would look bad too if after the Ime incident, they hire a coach, extend him, but then fire him months later.

It’s easy for us to moan about it and not care but that’s the logic^^

So you just waste another season. If they think ticket sales will be the same next year after bringing back a green coach to a contender then they are fooling themselves. Admit your mistake and bite the bullet. This is your chance to reset some things before they get worse.

Too many excellent coaches available right now to justify keeping Mazzulla.

I'm 100% serious wondering what exactly he does as a coach? We have no offense. It's guard takes it upmtop, pass and shoot or settle for a coasted layup. There's hardly any sets with the ball swinging around, which is odd as you would think that would be all we do in order to get looks at a 3.

The defense is just to drop out side the restricted area and either give layups or bunnies.

Other than expressing undying love for tatum, what exactly does he do? Serious question.

You’ve been adamant for a while and you were spot on.  Has to go. Will go.

Don’t think they’ll fire him bc of the optics.

What I think they’ll do is have a sit down with him and tell him they’re prepared to keep him but feel he still has a lot to learn, and try to handpick his assistants for him.  I think this would cause most coaches to resign, and I think that’s what they’ll hope Joe does.

I hear your point but couldn’t disagree more. He’s gone. Might be the only good thing to come of being so soundly thrashed by a less talented team.
Cs are less than the sum of their parts. That’s on the coach first. After that, I’d say no one is safe.

I hope you’re right.

Yeah I said the same thing about optics in previous page too. TP.

Their biggest mistake was removing the interim tag. No reason to do that.

The hasty, not well thought out, reactionary decisions made about the head coaching position is about the only consistent thing this team did all season

Honestly, I can’t picture any worse optics than keeping Joe.

The optics of keeping Mazzulla and wasting this team's prime years would be far, far worse.

What a crap choice by Brad. We have a win now roster with 2 all NBA players and this idiot goes with a rookie unproven coach with zero experience. We needed someone who has been there before and willing to coach star players. Someone who will bust a gasket on the sidelines with players and refs and maybe light a fire under some behinds. Has Joe Schmoe even received 2 techs this whole season?

We dont have time to let some bum take 3 years to season into an average coach.. And this was clear by christmas that he was in over his head and we were surviving on player talent alone. And what does Brad do? Takes the interim title away, what a joke
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

This.  Jacking up ticket prices for next season and just rolling everything back would be a disaster for ownership. Would send a horrible message.  Changes are coming and I believe step 1 will be getting rid of this competent head coach.

Better off playing without a coach.

Eddie House saying in post game that the Cs look like a team that has quit on their coach. Maybe they’re trying to get Mazzulla fired…

I hope the Celtics fans in MA or those who go to the TD Garden boycott this. It's embarrassing to watch them lose at home, what's their record 11-12 at home now in the postseason the last 23 games? Boycott and it will irk Wyc to do something, hopefully.

I didn't even bother watching Games 2 and 3, I knew they played like dogcrap. Glad I enjoyed my weekend and staycation than sulking over this embarrassing team.

Trying to get the head coach fired while in the conference finals isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement of the roster.

Bring back Doc. He had his faults, but he's a vet coach who's managed a wide range of NBA personalities and would know how to handle these guys. He got Pierce to mature and turn into a legit NBA finals MVP, which took a ton of work, and he kept Rondo in check long enough to win a ring and get back to the finals in his time here. Rondo was as tough a challenge as any coach will get. Heck, he got Embiid to play at an MVP level and Harden to become an assist leader. Doc would have no problem calling out Tatum, Brown and Smart and would push them to be the players they should be.

I have absolutely zero interest in bringing back Doc. But if it's between him and Mazzulla....

Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.
