Somebody has to go after this tonight. Coach admits he lost the team and doesn’t know what to do… seems players want him gone. Can’t bring this back next season

I’m going to continue to say it

I’d love to know what Ime did and to what extent it was bad. Because whatever it was, it didn’t prevent him from getting hired less than 8 month later, and taking interviews from other places

He prob banged on a Celtics executive woman, or a woman who is the spouse of a Celtics exec. Idk, either way, that was an overreaction. Should've just given him training and fine him, reconcile and be done with it.

An internet search will tell you who it was. I won’t post it here though, I won’t want to muckrake, not to mention Roy and the mods put the kibbosh on mentioning it.

In any case I agree it’s ancient history, they should have been long over it by now.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Quote
Joe Mazzulla was asked if he has lost the locker room: "Yeah, it’s why I need to be better to figure out what this team needs." Why has that happened? "I’m not sure."
He surely cannot be retained, admitting that!

I don't know how you coach Game 4 after you say that?  I mean, just pull off the bandaid right now, get into the coach search quicker...it is over for Joe.

If Jaylen is here next year, make sure our coach is black because it's easier for the locker room to relate to him, even if he's not qualified. Pretty sure he made a statement like that couple years ago.

Another big flop this year was the deadline imo. Brad got too cocky with the roster and didnt want to get an actual piece who would contribute. Grant had just about played himself out of the rotation at that point and Joe Schmoe refused to play Pritchard even though he can be a spark plug off the bench. You cant tell me a package of Grant and PP couldnt bring back someone who can contribute.

Lakers completely turned their season around picking up guys like Hachimura and Vanderbilt and the Knicks scooped up Hart who was pretty good for them these playoffs until they benched him for Grimes. And the Celts got... Mike Muscala. *barf*
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

Yeah I’m not even sure why they traded for Muscala anymore

And as for a “15th man buyout”, even if they got someone like Danny Green he’d also be on the end of bench anyways. Mazz isn’t even playing more than 7 guys most night. 8 at most if G-Will or PP gets minutes. Hauser is shelved too for some reason in a series where we could actually use 3-point shooting

This has been a ticking time bomb since they ost the coach they wanted to lead them Udoka.
I don’t think any of the players disliked Joe .  But they thought they had a solid core of great coaches who had their backs …who just evaporated seemingly over night and left them with a guy that they may not have trusted to be THE head coach for years to come.

The players should have MORE say about Udoka ,  instead they were blindsided ,  and their concerns or feelings were not considered.  I think Brown , Smart , White and Brogdon were NOT the happy campers with Boston’s front office decision.

They knew Joe was not a full time head coach material .  But didn’t speak up when they should have .

Yeah, it's so hard to know what to think about the Ime situation, because so little reliable information came out about it. On one hand, that's good to handle your affairs (no pun intended  ;D) privately, but on the other hand when you're having to dismiss a popular coach like this, can't give a real solid reason why, and it leads to this kind of downfall, that's a problem.

Hard situation. The fact that Ime was hired so quickly after being dismissed here suggests that it was an affair with someone within or associated with the organization, which made a return untenable. Just unfortunate that Ime couldn't keep it in his pants.

Eddie House saying in post game that the Cs look like a team that has quit on their coach. Maybe they’re trying to get Mazzulla fired…

Trying to get the head coach fired while in the conference finals isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement of the roster.

this quote deserves to be repeated. TP.

joe is abysmal and needs to go, but we have some serious character issues on this roster that precede joe. no matter how bad your coach might be, a mature veteran team doesn’t quit in the conference finals.

It doesn’t seem like Horford’s style to do that kind of thing, so is he just becoming washed before our eyes?

Smart & Brown I buy that, and would probably be asking tough questions. Tatum seems be still trying.

So…..I’m not sure this cheap azz frt office will even hire another coach while still paying this one .  …two head coach money. ??   I know Lakers would or Knicks …but then , what Ime did wouldn’t have even made LA or NYC news.  Old Hat. .but , now I don’t see how you can keep him at all……I mean even if you get rid rid of Tatum and Brown …..what players who are any good will want to play for Joe now ? Joe said he lost the team on TV .  How do you NOT fire him. He admitted failure and sounded totally lost to me as what to do.

I don't think this has anything you do with Joe. You simply can't give the players on this team any excuse, because they will use it all they can. When ownership essentially fired Ime before the season started, they lost the players and set up an excuse the players would use for not winning. This team is too soft.

Bring back Doc. He had his faults, but he's a vet coach who's managed a wide range of NBA personalities and would know how to handle these guys. He got Pierce to mature and turn into a legit NBA finals MVP, which took a ton of work, and he kept Rondo in check long enough to win a ring and get back to the finals in his time here. Rondo was as tough a challenge as any coach will get. Heck, he got Embiid to play at an MVP level and Harden to become an assist leader. Doc would have no problem calling out Tatum, Brown and Smart and would push them to be the players they should be.

Sheed said this is something Doc hardly ever does. That Doc avoids confrontations with his players. He doesn't like getting into it with guys. So he sends his main assistant into the locker room to have those discussions with the player instead of doing it himself.

Sheed also said this is what most NBA coaches do.

Sheed did not like this about NBA coaches. He wanted a coach who would confront guys when they weren't doing their jobs.

Said that this was a big problem in Philly with Doc, Embiid and Harden. Doc didn't hold them accountable.

I think Nick Nurse would be much better in that regard
