We dont need another young inexperienced coach who needs to come up with his own brand of basketball to justify his selection. Throw out the analytics as well.

What we need is a seasoned and disciplined coach who can kick those Jay's b**** if they don't perform well. We need to play the Celtics brand of basketball, play with heart, poise, discipline and team oriented offense.

Beat LA.

Eddie House saying in post game that the Cs look like a team that has quit on their coach. Maybe they’re trying to get Mazzulla fired…

Trying to get the head coach fired while in the conference finals isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement of the roster.

Yeah.  There are better ways to handle that.

Honestly, I can’t picture any worse optics than keeping Joe.

With the unprecedented amount of criticism that Joe is rightfully receiving? Yeah, it would be pretty bad. I don't remember a situation where a coach has been almost as universally criticized as much as Joe has. Even guys like Doc and Casey had their supporters.

No Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. Joe

Joe Mazzulla: "I didn't have them ready to play. That's on me."

Don’t think they’ll fire him bc of the optics.

What I think they’ll do is have a sit down with him and tell him they’re prepared to keep him but feel he still has a lot to learn, and try to handpick his assistants for him.  I think this would cause most coaches to resign, and I think that’s what they’ll hope Joe does.

I hear your point but couldn’t disagree more. He’s gone. Might be the only good thing to come of being so soundly thrashed by a less talented team.
Cs are less than the sum of their parts. That’s on the coach first. After that, I’d say no one is safe.

I hope you’re right.

Yeah I said the same thing about optics in previous page too. TP.

Their biggest mistake was removing the interim tag. No reason to do that.

The hasty, not well thought out, reactionary decisions made about the head coaching position is about the only consistent thing this team did all season

The optics of keeping Mazzulla and wasting this team's prime years would be far, far worse.

Well, like I said, I hope you’re right.  It’s also possible the players could force managements hand regardless.  What a circus.

Just a year ago we looked like the smartest team in the league, finding a great young coach, preaching defense first and getting the most out of his players.

Now we look like we don’t know what the hell were doing

Team still p---ed off at the Ime decision and that has been going part of the problem all season. They know Joe shouldn’t be coaching this team and every loss it gets easier to put blame in him. This is textbook losing the team/locker room.

Shame, too, since not only did we lose Ime, but we are going to lose our top assistant, too. If they had just kept the interim tag all year, they could have spun it into Joe stepping up and then have him settle back into his previous position.

Accountability. This is what these guys need, and this is EXACTLY what Ime brought to the team that made them successful. There's absolutely zero accountability with Joe, because he's clueless.

I think it's Nurse. He would be best suited for this team, but not trying to make a statement or anything like that, I'm really not sure whether they'll hire a white coach. That was a big thing for the guys in their first coaching search for Ime.

Platitudes. That's all it is for Joe at this point. He has not clue how to fix it, so it's always going to be on him.

That's because our great young coach couldn't keep it in his pants. On top of that, our assistant coach who was key to our defense got hired to coach the Jazz. It was tough for anyone to come in on short notice, throwing the job to a 34 year old with little experience made it much worse. Stoudamire leaving mid season took away the vet presence we had on the bench from Joe.

Joe realizes he has to take responsibility and isn’t being snarky today with the media because he knows he’s screwed if he doesn’t. Team has already quit on him and fans/media are grilling him too

Bring back Doc. He had his faults, but he's a vet coach who's managed a wide range of NBA personalities and would know how to handle these guys. He got Pierce to mature and turn into a legit NBA finals MVP, which took a ton of work, and he kept Rondo in check long enough to win a ring and get back to the finals in his time here. Rondo was as tough a challenge as any coach will get. Heck, he got Embiid to play at an MVP level and Harden to become an assist leader. Doc would have no problem calling out Tatum, Brown and Smart and would push them to be the players they should be.

I have absolutely zero interest in bringing back Doc. But if it's between him and Mazzulla....

Haha, desperate bloody times!

Joe Mazzulla was asked if he has lost the locker room: "Yeah, it’s why I need to be better to figure out what this team needs." Why has that happened? "I’m not sure."

Oh make no mistake, I’m not making Ime out to be some kind of victim.  There’s a lot that happened that was out of managements control.  But there was plenty they could have done to mitigate the damage from all this, it just seemed like when they needed to act quick, they just sat on their hands.  And when they NEEDED to just sit on their hands, they go and remove the interim tag off Joe.
