The former eighth-overall pick worked on his three-point shot with a well-respected shooting coach in the offseason and it has instantly paid off this season. Even if he is only taking 1.3 attempts per game, a 45% three-point rate is nothing to scoff at.

The Lakers' forums seem excited to have a chance to get him back.  The 45% shooting is probably not going to hold up and certainly not if he is forced into any pressure situations but if he can maintain even 35%, he could still be a useful player.

I have to wonder, why wait 7 seasons to get a shooting coach?  He was a career 322 for 1074 (29.98%) for 7 seasons.  Anyway, I am sure he is in the consideration mix for the last slot.  I don't think we are going to get Barton or Burks, Ross is going to go to the Suns, so why not Stanley Johnson?

I think the likeliest signing is still Tony Snell, but I'd be fine with Johnson or Justin Holiday.

I really liked Johnson in that draft and was bummed the C's couldn't swing a deal to get him (even if they moved up, they'd probably have taken someone else).  thought he'd be a terrific player.  never lived up to the potential I thought he had.  would still be a solid addition to round out the roster

I wanted Johnson when he was cut at the end of training camp, so I’d be happy with the pickup.  I also wanted Holiday last deadline, although his game seems to have really fallen off, so I’m less interested than I was.  But he’s traditionally been seen as a good locker room guy, so if he could accept minimal role that’s being offered I’d be happy to have him.

I think the main difference is that Stanley Johnson is only 26.  Snell is 31 and Holiday is 32.  You may as well bring in the player with more upside if you can and if you assume they are otherwise roughly equal as to what we can get from them this season (which may or may not be a correct assumption).

Warriors bench looking better if Payton III can make it back in time for the playoffs.

G: K Thompson, J Poole
F: Wiggins, DiVincenzo, Moody
F: Draymond, Kuminga, A Lamb
C: Looney, JayMychal Green

The perimeter corps off the bench is one of the strongest in the league. Kuminga a wild card but potentially really tough to matchup with his speed & athleticism at PF. Maybe Anthony Lamb will beat Kuminga due to his better outside shot. JayMychal Green is a weak link but if they can get by with Looney they may be able to make it work with JayMychal Green.

I thought they should have tried to trade Klay and/or Poole in a bigger move to get Steph some star help. That would have done more to aid to title hopes.

I think their bench gives them a shot in the West. Not a frontrunner but an outside chance of a title push. Their starting lineup isn't as strong as in the past with Klay no longer a star talent but that bench should push them past some of the lower placed playoff teams in the West. Give them a puncher's chance against the higher seeds.

The Suns and Bucks would still be prime considerations, I imagine.  We have the most money to offer of the top contenders, but I'm not sure that we're going to spend it.

I still don’t think Cleveland waives Kevin love, they have said they won’t. But if they do I think he ends up in golden state. Much bigger role for him there any obviously likelier than LA to have a playoff run.

If I am seeing the latest information, it appears that Stanley Johnson has been placed on waivers.  I think he has a minimum salary.  Why couldn't we just claim him off waivers?  If we want him, claiming him would take out the uncertainty of the Lakers or someone else getting him.  I usually don't understand all the nuances of the rules but does it make any difference in terms of what we would pay him?  Or our cap/tax impact?
