I don’t understand why Kanye is given a platform by Fox News.

A Black man who wears a White Lives Matter shirt?  They couldn’t ask for anything more.

As a social conscious and intelligent person that Jaylen Brown is, I can't imagine why stay with him. If he's trying to differentiate Kanye from the business it's one thing, but you have to be very clear about it. I do work with LiveStrong for a class and recognize all the great things they have done to support cancer survivors. They had an uphill battle but when the Armstrong shame occurred, they did enough to separate themselves from the face of the organization to keep doing the good work they had been doing. The same applies if the organization is trying to separate themselves from Kanye, but until then, Jaylen's name is attached to the guy and that is not a good look.

Cancel culture is communism.  I don't care how ridiculous anyone's stance is. I support anyone's ability to say whatever they wish.

To say whatever they wish without consequence?

Jaylen needs to separate himself from Ye.....if he can. For all I know Ye has Jaylen tied up legally for a certain period of time and JB can't get away from him right now because Ye has invested in some of Jaylen's initiatives.

Brown has his own Jui7e brand, his off court advocacy and reputation that could be ruined if he sticks with him long term. I believe Jaylen will split with Ye ASAP once he can and once he sees the damage sticking with that POS can do to his future.

I'm not sure we have the whole story on Brown's business entanglements that might shine a light on the situation and for that reason, my opinion on JB the person and player has not changed one bit.

That's what they call a democracy. Freedom of speech as a foundation.
Without absolute freedom of speech a democracy will fail.
Like it's falling everywhere in North-America and Europe.

Cancel culture is communism (excellent remark bij KG LL).
It's in fact cultural marxism.

There can be cultural (no governmental) consequence, but this unwritten law that we should not only boycott and shun Kanye, but also anyone who won't is a bit much. In some religions this is known as secondary separation. It's toxic.

I may not have chosen the path Brown did (although none of us has as much information as he did to make that decision), but I definitely support Brown's ability to choose this for himself without this crazy secondary separation that renders the "guilty by association" verdict.

Is it possible Brown believes in the organization and goals, thinks the organization and goals are bigger than Kanye West or any one man, and therefore wants to keep working toward the same good goals as before regardless of Kanye's rotten influence?

What does “cancel culture” mean to you? If this was a case of the government banning Kanye west from performing anywhere that would be something to call Vance culture. If a business decides they don’t want someone to represent them as a spokesperson anymore because it hurts them financially, what exactly do you propose they do? Just lose money and ignore basic economics?

Just saw a damage control interview with Lex Fridman. I'll save you all a headache and break it down as

-Ye goes into the remarks as a gaslighting pro. Saying he is just stating the people who wronged him are Jewish not that he has anything against Jews.

-Lex explains multiple times about Ye's choice of words being poor. Which Ye says, he is sorry if people take it the wrong way but he will say it that way anyways because the people were Jewish.

-When Ye finally accepts Lex's point of it drumming up hate. Ye says Jews shouldn't get upset by the past (Holocaust) because the black Holocaust is happening now and it's called Planned Parenthood.
___________________________

Something I noticed is Ye likes calling certain groups out for acting like victims but blames his actions on being a victim. Honestly to me he just wants attention. He really is a little crazy.

There is no such thing as unfettered freedom of speech, even in America. You can not yell fire while in a crowded theatre. You can not incite a riot. You can not slander a person or defame(libel) a person to their detriment. You can not blackmail someone. You can not divulge national secrets. You can not violate a non-disclosure agreement. You can not lie under oath. You can not threaten someone. I am sure there are more.

There are definite violations of the law where you are not protected under the 1st Amendment and free speech.

And, I have no issue with cancel culturing racists, homophobes, bigots, misogynists, abusers, and bosses abusing power because of their speech. They get what they deserve for saying the un-American things they say.

Well said.

I think people are more concerned about being called out for saying bad things vs. actually protecting the first amendment. I wonder why people cry to protect their “freedom” to practice hate, yet aren’t concerned about the other examples you mentioned Nick…..

Free speech cries seem to come in droves when people get called out for being terrible. It’s harder to prevent people from using ethnic slurs than it is to protect school children from irresponsible gun owners.

There should be a consensus that Kanye is divisive and bad for business. Some have openly embraced hate, and are sensitive when others call them out.

The least he could do is condemn what he said, he didn’t even really seem willing to do that

This is the most hilariously absurd post I've seen in a while, bravo.

JB should absolutely distance himself from West. It is a terrible reflection not to do so. Brings him down a peg or two in my eyes

Lol. The toxicity stems from pushing for the shunning of bigotry and those who do nothing to quiet it, not from the bigotry itself? Are you serious?
