I’ve got the feeling he knows he’s in a system and a city that loves him. He knows he can be that three/four guy alongside JT/Smart/JB (the duo is now JT/Smart IMHO with JB as our third guy). $20 million per year here is a lot better than risking falling down somewhere else at $25 million/year. What’s beautiful about Grant’s emergence is that if JB won’t commit to an extension, we can deal him as an expiring contract and not miss as much as I’ve always feared because Grant is clearly a starter who steps up in big moments. This series proved that. Remarkable performance and growth for a guy in his third season who was drafted near the end of the 1st.
In any case, I suspect we’ll be matching whichever offer he gets.
