I think you start with G-Leaguers already in the system who you know can do some stuff. Celts have already done that with Hauser (can shoot) and Kornet (can play basic interior defense).

Unless a vet who has actually played at a decent level this season becomes available for the minimum, I would fill out the remaining spots with the best G-League players available.  I don't know enough about the G-League to have an opinion on which guys would fit that description.

Players who cleared NBA waivers yesterday:

Armoni Brooks
Michael Carter-Williams
P.J. Dozier
Drew Eubanks
E'Twaun Moore
Paul Watson

Players set to clear waivers today at 5PM ET:

D.J. Augustin
DeAndre' Bembry
Moses Brown
Abdel Nader
KZ Okpala
Jahmi'us Ramsey
Robert Woodard II

If Moore would sign for a non-guaranteed minimum next season, I'd think about picking him up.  Or, D.J. Augustin.  Bembry as the second signing.

I'd keep the final spot open to see who else shakes out.  March 1 is a long way away.

I wouldn't mind bring Abdel Nader back. He shot over 40% from 3 last year, albeit on low numbers. He defends well, is long, and should fit into our system pretty well.

He's unfortunately been struggling with his knee all year, and hasn't played in months.  He had surgery last year, and it looks like it didn't help much.

That's a shame.  Nice kid.

I still like Denzel Valentine as a guy with NBA experience.

What's more.... the Cs now have a depth chart of Williams, Horford, Theis and Kornet at the 5. For a team that's highly thin in other areas, why would they sign a center?
That center depth chart is, um...underwhelming.  I'm not thrilled with the Kornet signing.  I think there are better centers available.

That’s really beside the point. The Ca have them under contract nonetheless. Doubtful they’re going to just keep adding centers.

I could see them adding Denzel Valentine and DeAndre Bembry to get to 14 players.  Need some 6'5" type guys on the roster with Romeo and Richardson gone. They both have experience. Keep Bembry from catching on with someone else in the Eastern Conference.

Save the 15th spot just in case someone good comes available.  I don't see any game changing stretch 4's out there. Maybe that just means playing JT more at the 4 and trying out White and Smart together a little more going forward.

Looks like we’ll see that a lot. The White/Smart pairing has been a minor revelation. Spacing and ball movement on one end, physical and switchable on the other.

Let’s see how they deal with Embiid.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Tyreke Evans?

His last good season was 5 years ago, and he’s been suspended for almost three years.  There have to be a lot of better options out there, and that includes the G League.

Marc Stein: Tyreke Evans has been working out in Miami with John Wall and Michael Beasley to prepare for his NBA re-instatement after more than two years out of the league on a drug suspension. He becomes a high-profile free agent addition to the buyout market. More: marcstein.substack.com – via Twitter TheSteinLine

I would absolutely give him  tryout   he's not old and was a really good player.  Another playmaker to round out the 2nd unit.  Sign another big and use the last spot on a developmental project wing if any are floating around in the gleague

Hard pass. Not a good shooter. Drug suspension? Yeah that's good for our young guys. What kind of shape is he in? Harden shape? He'd be a better fit in LA with the Fakers.

How much would people lose it if we brought back tristan thompson? If he is actually bought out he would unfortunately be a solid piece for the Lakers. I am just really hoping the Lakers can't add dragic or any shooting.

I think the Lakers are screwed no matter what they do.
