Wouldn't overall record of all the East teams vs all the West teams or perhaps East teams vs West teams be more pertinent to the discussion as to which conference is better?

I like SRS (Simple Rating System at BRef), though it's too early to draw conclusions.

Even so, right now the West has the 2nd and 3rd best teams by SRS, but the East has positions 1 (MIA), and 4 - 12.

I'm not an analytics guy don't like looking at numbers just watching the games...

From what I've seen the East is very good this year Chicago, Miami, New York, Toronto, and Washington got much better then they were last year if you take Atlanta, Boston, Philly, Bucks, Nets, Hornets, and the Pacers that's already 12 .500 teams...

Cleveland is playing not bad either I don't think anybody is really tanking anymore which is very good.

Thanks phosita. 10 out of 12 for East is insane. Interesting to see how this hawks jazz goes tonight.

Jazz nice win in Atlanta. One of better wins for west this year. Are jazz a legit contender or a regular season team that has gobert neutralized in playoffs?

Jazz's best player isn't good enough for them to be a real contender.  Fluke year like the Suns last year, then maybe, but a normal year not at all.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

You can’t win a championship when your best player is a small guard. Not anymore.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

any more?  There has been 1 championship in over 30 years where the team's best player was a small guard (2 if you count Wade as a small guard and think he was better than Shaq).

What about the Pistons? Wasn’t Chauncey Billups the best player on that team. It was rare, but possible to win like that in the past. I don’t see it happening again.

Georges Niang would be a nice shooter to have off the bench.
