Is it me or did Luka gain weight?
Someone was talking about the Olympic hang over today and it made sense.  That all of the guys that played in the Olympics have been struggling, the foreign players included.  And if you look at their stats and starts, that seems very accurate.  Might explain some of why Tatum has started off so slowly as well.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

He looks tired but maybe playing in the Summer like Tatum.

Yeah, I can see that.

I hate typing this. But Lebron has had a pretty impressive last 5 minutes. That being said Lakers at home in a battle with rockets. They really got to replace howard and Jordan with some younger players. They look like the starters in nba2k when a player refuses to use his bench.

What happened to Cade? He hasn't played yet...

He’s played in 2 games so far. 0-14 from 3pt and is shooting 14% from the field. In 19 mins per game he’s averaging 2pt, 7reb and 2 ast with a -2.98 PER.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Lakers now up only 1 with 8 seconds left.

That was a very weird game. Did you see how they took two made foul shots off the board for lakers? Have never seen that in 25 years.

He needs to go to fat camp with Zion ;)

Luka is prone to being pudgy.  As great as he is, he'd be even greater if he watched his diet better and kept himself in better shape.  Throughout his career he absolutely dominates for a quarter or so at a time then seems to run low on gas for other parts of the game.  And he generally gets in better shape as the seasons go on.  It's hard to nitpick when a player plays at the level Luka plays at, but I think he has another level to go to if he got strict with his diet.

They just need to suck it up and start Davis at center and Lebron at PF.  Howard/Jordan are fine as a backup center in the 15-20 mpg range (combined).  They just need to go Davis, Lebron, Russ, Bazemore, and then Monk or Bradley.  I like Melo as offense off the bench for them.  They just need Davis to put his big boy pants on and play center.

I do not see this as an AD problem.

I view this as a Frank Vogel problem. He is a one trick pony. He is only a good coach when he can play big ball. It is all he knows how to do. Like Mike D'Antoni and how he can only coach small-ball. They are both train wrecks whenever they are asked to do something different.

Vogel has to go against every natural instinct he possesses to go away from old-school big defensive lineups. He can't do it.

LA should have fired Vogel the minute they traded for Westbrook. He was never going to be able to coach that team. The same way NY should have fired D'Antoni the moment they traded for Melo. Instead they waited, wasted however much time it was before eventually figuring out Mike Woodson would do a much better job and Woodson was nothing more than an average coach. Same situation with Vogel.

A one trick pony who immediately becomes one of the worst coaches in the league when he does not have a roster to suit his one trick coaching style.

I don't know about this Who. Lebron and Davis are still a two big lineup any way you look at it. And Lebron is still going to have a point forward role whether at the 3 or 4, much like Larry Bird did when he pendulumed between the positions.

I think Vogel is more than likely juggling a personality issue, in that, Davis doesn't want to play center and be the physical 5 the team needs. AD wants to play the 4 position, play farther from the basket and that then pushes Lebron to the three leaving Jordan and Howard to play the 5.

Vogel isn't a great coach, but he is no idiot either. He knows Davis and Lebron is his best 4/5 pairing. He simply can't use it most of the time because Davis is a diva and hates playing center.

That is how I see it as well.  I just don't think Davis wants to play center, which is why the team keeps bringing in centers.

I agree at least against the bigger, more physical centers.  But there is also his injury history.  In the regular season, playing him at center a lot is probably not a good idea.  Get him healthy to the playoffs and then shift him to center more.
