Nets-Hawks game tonight feels kinda big. If the Nets lose, then the Nets would drop to the 10th seed and it's still a very tight group between the Nets, Hawks and Hornets. Cavaliers are struggling but they are still 2 games ahead of seeds 8-10 so it's hard to see much movement there in the final 4-5 games unless the Cavs happen to end the season like 1-4 or 0-5
The Nets have a lucky stretch remaining. Houston, Indiana and New York should all be wins for them.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

LOL

I enjoyed that but in the back of my mind I’m aware that Lakers won’t ever endure an extended fall from grace. So the joy of one year of humiliation will soon be undone when the next wave of top 5 players sign or force a trade there.

But if the Hawks win tonight, they’ll be up a game with four to play and the tiebreaker, so Nets would need to make up two game over the final four.  Atlanta’s schedule is a little more difficult, but does have the Wizards and Rockets on it, so the Nets would probably have to finish 4-0 while hoping the Hawks go 2-2.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high with the ongoing capitulation over in LA. I might get giddy!

I mean they were just pretty bad a number of years in a row as they drafted randle, russell, ingram etc. They don't have much salary flexibility. Can't see how they move Westbrook next year either.

They've had 2 winning seasons in the last 9 seasons.  They had 4 straight seasons of 27 or fewer wins.  Due to the AD trade, their 2026 1st round pick is the earliest they can trade.  AD has shown he's not a #1 star but he may not even be a reliable #2.  Lebron has said he wants to play with Bronny.  Their best move probably would be to trade Lebron in the offseason.

Besides Shaq and Lebron, who is the Lakers next best free agent acquisition?

Gotta toss in a pick or two.  :)

Seriously though if I'm the Grizz I wouldn't trade for Lebron or AR.  They've got a good thing going and don't need the baggage of either.

Nets down 15 to ATL at the half with whom they are tied for 8th place entering the day.

It would be sweet to see them in the 9-10 play-in game.

They won't have many options, but there are a lot of bad contracts in the league that are longer than Westbrook.  I could see a team taking on Russ for future salary relief.

Something like this makes some level of sense for example

Westbrook, Reaves for Hardaway, Bertans

Dallas then just buys Westbrook out and clears a ton of future space, allowing them to re-sign Brunson and getting a decent enough young player for their bench.

No idea if Dallas does that, but some trade like that will exist, but it would require L.A. to actually take on long term money, which we learned they weren't willing to do last summer or at the trade deadline.  If LA won't take on any contracts past Lebron's contract, then they are stuck with Westbrook, but if they'd take on money to get out from under him, then there will be trades.  And obviously Hardaway and Bertans are mediocre role players, but they are decent shooters and would fit well with James and Davis.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - Noah, G. Wallace, Melo,
Deep Bench -
