I’ve always disliked Schroeder. Mostly because he absolutely obliterates the Cs. Seem to always have big games against them going back to his ATL days.

Maybe one of those cases you sign him to not have to face him.

Who doesn't have big games against the Celtics?

I am fine with no DS.  Just stops us finding out what we have with the young guys.

I agree with you. TP. Schröder is not a longterm solution or help.
He could help if we were trying to compete, but we are clearly not  :'(.

I mean if we are trying to rescue ball-movement and team basketball do we really need DS for a year?
If they really are extending Smart, just do that (for good or bad) and let someone else deal with DS's issues.

When Shroder started for the Hawks he was top 10 in the league assist percentage. He also almost won 6th man of the year. To get him with a short mle is a gift.

And Smart is not getting extended.

I didn't watch him much when he was with ATL.  I saw him quite a bit last season because I live in california.  He wasn't terrible, but he seemed to def play for himself a lot.

I hadn't seen the news that we weren't extending Marcus.  Where did you see that?

Multiple reports we're not taking on salary past this year, along with the moves PBS has made which corresponds to that approach...all in the name of getting the third musketee in FA or a trade prior to next summer

well we supposedly just offered Marcus a big fat extension, so are we so sure about all that?

Why would anyone want Schroder over Smart? Makes no sense to me. Frankly, he's not that good. Sure cheap one year pickup he is definitely better than Carsen Edwards. I can't understand why everyone is go excited about this possibility. How did he do for the Lakers last year. Obviously they aren't going to miss him. This is like a flea market sale. Let's face it there's not much left and we are looking for the scrap heap pickups.

He did well enough that the Lakers offered him a 4/80 extension. Regardless, the report isn't a trade for Smart rather short term with the mle. It would be lucking into a rotational player who needs to perform next year to get paid with no risk. Obviously he has his warts but it's all relative.  He's really perfect for our season next year. Everyone on the roster not a Jay or Al is in that same  boat. Gonna be a fun year.

Been waiting for a "starting NBA point guard." You know? A legit one.

So if it's Schroder, then there you go. He appeared in 61 games with LA and averaged 32 minutes thus, with the others he was the starting point guard sort of.

His game is ok, he plays hard.

My point is that starting the season with Smart as our point guard was bothering me as he really isn't one. Thus, we have a medium sized van load of point guards now and...Stevens is till talking to more point guards and thus, ruling out fielding the smallest team in history?

"Brad Stevens is on the phone...he's looking for another point guard...any idea why? He already has four and they want Langford to play point too."

Smart - Richardson - Dunn - Pritchard + Schroder (?)

There is a trade coming up because why do the Celtics need another point guard?

Also, as has been mentioned here already?  Payton Pritchard can outshoot every one of these guys....from the scorer's table for crying out loud.

'Dennis Schroder to the Boston Celtics is a "done deal." Contract details are still being discussed, but both sides are determined to get a deal done.'

is Simon Stiles legit?  I have no idea.

Do we really trust Simone Biles to deliver breaking NBA news?  ;)

Anyway, hope he is correct. This would be a great value signing for the Cs.

Schroder for the right money isn't necessary bad. He was obliterated by Lebron in LA for not being aggressive enough. Maybe we get a deal.

I say it be a one year deal with a second year player option
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

If you have to ask that question, the answer is no.
I'm bitter.

Depends if Smart takes the option perhaps? Otherwise, seems to be the right take.

Schroder for the MLE is a bargain. I feel like people are unfairly judging his passing off of what he did in OKC, where he was a scorer. Schroder was a perfectly fine passer in Atlanta and LA. I’d start him.

Schroder / Pritchard / Dunn
Richardson / Smart / Langford
Brown / Nesmith
Tatum / Parker / Grant
Horford / Williams
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Don’t forget Kanter.  ;)

If this is true I do like the rotation.

I’ve never been a fan, but I think he’d be good for this team.  We need a true point guard.  Smart can be the the combo guard that he’s best at.

I've been thinking that Nesmith should start and Josh Richardson should come off the bench.

So you get Smart and Josh Richardson as key bench players alongside Pritchard and Rob Williams. A more dependable group of contributors.

Then have Nesmith as a low usage shooter to play off the ball off of Tatum, Jaylen and Schroeder. Rather than Josh Richardson who would prefer to have more of the ball and be more involved in the offense. So having a low usage guy like Nesmith keeps the others happy.
