If Brad can entice Schroder

[dang]... that would some offseason. Better than what Danny has done in years

no way i’m trading Smart to the Fakers

I don't see that.  The story was indicating the Cs sign him with the MLE, no trade required with that signing.

My feeling is that if we sign Schroder with the MLE, that they have another trade in mind for Smart, hopefully for a big.  I see Schroder and Smart as redundant.  They won't start together and Schroder is not going to come to reestablish his value by coming off the bench.

If it goes down this way, trade Smart for a decent big, sign Schroder, I am fine with that, depending of course on what we get for Smart.

I think Schroder could win the sixth man of the year coming off of our bench.

Schroder probably does not have all that many options so who knows but does the 6th man of the year get a $84M contract?  I feel Schroder is shooting higher than 6th man.
I think he'd be a starter on this Celtics team.  And probably put up pretty good numbers and earn a decent contract next year.  I'm not a huge fan, but he'd fill a big scoring gap this season.

I would be a pretty solid move, especially if they get him for one year, and he gets back to what he was doing at OKC.

Even in LA he was putting up decent numbers, and assists at 6 which is good considering he was playing with Lebron whos going to be ball dominant. Everyone says his playoff run was horrible, he had two bad, really not great at all games against PHX, but the other 3 games were really good.

Plus the way FA is drying up next season, he might get his payday next summer with some one over paying. Might be a win win for both sides.

Till now I’ve found Shroder annoying and hateable. Not sure exactly why.  But suddenly, I like him.

Per source, there is some mutual interest between Dennis Schroder and Cs but he's considering a few options. Also if he comes to Boston it's unlikely to be via sign-and-trade.

Sounds like Schroder is anything but a sure thing

Here's what a source told me on the Celtics and Dennis Schroder: Both sides have interest. Boston is interested in only a short-term deal, ideally one year. Schroder is still looking for more money than the Celtics can offer and/or a longer deal.

I have no idea what the depth chart will look like when the dust settles. Will Schroder and/or Richardson start? Where does Dunn fit in? Does Horford start alongside Kanter or Williams? Is one of them third string? How will Langford and Nesmith find playing time?

I feel like we have a bunch of good players, but not enough great ones (sans Tatum and Brown, who we still don’t know if they compliment each other correctly).

I'm not going to confuse this rumor stuff with what Stevens actually ends up doing, but to me, you bring in a longer term guy who you think you are going to start for a few years, or you develop Langford, Nesmith and Pritchard. Anything in between seems like bad management to me.

Not sure how I feel about this. I’m not at all cool with it if it means Smart is traded. On other hand, pairing the two of them in the backcourt wouldn’t work, because neither of them is a good enough shooter. Does Schroeder really want to sign a 1-year “prove it” deal with us only to come off the bench? I doubt it. I also doubt Marcus would feel great being relegated to the bench in favor of Schroeder in a contract year.

TP for the update.

Keith Smith probably has it wrong again, though, in his use of 'and/or'. I think the Cs would be more than happy to give Schroder the MLE on a long-term deal. My guess is he wants more money than the Cs can offer AND a longer deal.

If he can’t find a multi year deal with someone, he may take a one year deal with Boston
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I agree with you. TP. Schröder is not a longterm solution or help.
He could help if we were trying to compete, but we are clearly not  :'(.
