This would be interesting.

Is there a way to make a Schroder for Smart/Dunn S&T happen?
Please read the link you are posting mate.

“the Celtics and Schröder have interest in a short-term deal. (...) A sign-and-trade to land him in Boston is all but doubtful, given that the Celtics would have to sign Schröder to a three-year contract to acquire him via sign-and-trade''.

Sign and trade deals have to be for 3 or 4 years. Apparently, Schroder wants to rehabilitate his value with a view to hitting free agency once again in 2022.

Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to be this year's (new and improved) Teague.

Personally, believe if Schroder signs, Smart will be traded.  IMO only.

I don't think it'll have any impact on Smart at all, especially if rumors are true that we've offered an extension.

Personally, I like the we're adding another guard to the mix that can play. I think we should go into training camp with the understanding that Tatum and Brown are the only confirmed starters and everyone else will have to earn their spot in the rotation.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I don't see that.  The story was indicating the Cs sign him with the MLE, no trade required with that signing.

My feeling is that if we sign Schroder with the MLE, that they have another trade in mind for Smart, hopefully for a big.  I see Schroder and Smart as redundant.  They won't start together and Schroder is not going to come to reestablish his value by coming off the bench.

If it goes down this way, trade Smart for a decent big, sign Schroder, I am fine with that, depending of course on what we get for Smart.

Imo, the most logical scenario is that we sign him via the non-taxpayer MLE. Don't see why we'd have to trade Smart. We could end up below the apron by dumping Dunn.

I'm not a fan of Schroder's game. Don't like the fit on the C's either. That said, he'd be great value for the non-taxpayer MLE. Assuming we sign him to a 1-year contract, we'd still be in the running for a max free agent in 2022.

I think Schroder could win the sixth man of the year coming off of our bench. Schroder is exactly what we need coming off our bench.

Schroder probably does not have all that many options so who knows but does the 6th man of the year get a $84M contract?  I feel Schroder is shooting higher than 6th man.

Agreed

Smart would need to be traded imo

Not enough mins to go around.

I like the sign Schroder and trade Smart for a Big scenario as well.
