Per Shams, Celtics expected to show strong interest in signing Avery Bradley

I'd love Avery back, was always one of my favourites.

I have read reports that the Lakers are targeting him also, it would be interesting if it's down between us and the Lakers. Perhaps if the money is the same, Avery chooses the most potential playing time.

First Kris Dunn and now AB? Perhaps Marcus is gonna be gone soon? I mean what’s Ime gonna do with three defensive point guards?

So it appears that Daniel Theis is on his way to Boston.

Can you post the tweet?

Sorry I don't know how to do that.

Just copy/paste the actually tweet. Some of us don’t have access to Twitter. There’s a tp in it for you.

copy/paste didn't work

I can get copy/paste to work okay, but I can't get it to work on Celticsstrong

Apparently, some guy spotted Theis on a flight from LA to Boston. It means close to nothing. I mean, he was living in Boston for 3.5 years. I bet he has plenty of reasons to visit the city. It doesn't necessarily mean that he'll sign for the C's.

Isn’t AB cooked? He’s a pesky but ok defender who can’t shoot threes and can’t dribble.

Unless he’s going to mentor guys, I guess?

For the Celtics, just hypothetically, who would you have drafted between Moses Moody and Chris Duarte?

Great question.  Not sure, bro - Moody is on a stacked GS and young, while Duarte is old and the Pacers roster seems in flux.

I wouldn’t mind Avery on a minimum one year deal.. he is better than Carson, Grant, Romeo, Waters, Semi
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Super tough question but I think I’d personally give the edge to Duarte. He’s a bull. He works his tail off and literally gives you his all on every possession. Great team guy and he’s fit right in with our two way approach.

I also love Moody though. Even though he’s 19 I think he can help right away while also developing. Moody seems to be the prospect I wanted Langford and Neismith to be.

In the end I’d have taken Duarte.

Saw on Bleacher Report, Lakers are after Rudy Gay, DeMar DeRozan, & Carmelo Anthony.. Lakers are going to be the oldest team in NBA history
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

The rumor was that Kris Dunn might not be kept.  The Thompson deal was to save $3 million and get a pick.  Maybe they’re okay with Dunn on the roster if they can’t move him,  and the AB interest is if they do find a home for Dunn.

Good analysis.  For the Celts, I also would have taken Duarte.  Moody def has upside, but I want to build around Tatum and Brown... not beyond Tatum and Brown.

Lakers are desperate to fill out their roster with vets on the cheap, and everybody knows it.  Perhaps we can squeeze a pick out of them if we agree to not sign AB. Not sure what the deal would look like.

What picks do they have left to trade?

More so then most offseason I feel like we are going to see some really unexpected moves. The trades to date have not been all that surprising but it feels like a bigger deal is on its way, and not necessarily Beal.

According to a league source, negotiations between the Celtics and Evan Fournier are close to stalling, with the team unwilling to meet the valuable wing player’s asking price of $80 million over four years.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bostonherald.com/2021/07/31/0731-bh-s-fournier/amp/

When the C’s traded for Fournier, wasn’t it understood that he was going to command between 15-$20M/year? He’s 28, so a 4 year deal would ensure that you get him through his prime. It’s going to really suck if he goes to the Knicks For 4/$80M...

It may suck for us, but I find it perfectly reasonable that Fournier demands 80/4.
I expect he will get that elsewhere if the Celtics won't compromise.

I agree, He’s definitely worth $20m/year. C’s shouldn’t have traded for him if they weren’t willing to pay him up to that amount.

Stevens wasn't the one who traded for him though. It's his show now, he shouldn't make decisions based on what Ainge did or did not want.

Ownership has to sign off on any trade and Brad was involved with every roster decision.

“We’ve gotten to know Brad over the last eight years and gotten to understand his brilliance,” C’s owner Wyc Grousbeck said, explaining the decision to urge Stevens to interview for GM. “He was at the table with Danny for all of our roster decisions over the last eight years. Brad’s fingerprints and DNA are on this team with putting it together.” https://www.clnsmedia.com/moving-brad-stevens-to-celtics-gm-creates-more-questions-than-answers/

Nowhere does that say that Brad wanted the Fournier trade. That's standard ownership PR selling the public on their choice for team president. Assuming they trust him as much as they say, then he's got free reign to move on from Fournier as he sees fit. I think most people agree that the last year or two, Ainge did not do a great job putting together a competitive basketball team, and nobody knows that better than Brad. He knows what the issues were and how to fix them.

As long as he doesn't try something crazy like trading Tatum, I don't see ownership getting in his way.

Nowhere does it say that he didn’t want Fournier. It was a good trade at the time as well.  Ownership clearly valued Stevens input as they were the ones that told him to apply for the GM position. Like you said, Ainge has not done a great job constructing the team over the last few years. I can imagine that Brad’s input on the trade was not taken strongly into consideration.
