Has Bradley Beal ever expressed an interest to sign in Boston? It’s not like Tatum is his only close friend. Allegedly he’s close with KCP, who just got traded to Washington.
I don't think I have ever heard that he wants to play for the C's. All we have ever heard is some relationship he has with Tatum. I don't get why a lot of people are putting all their hopes for a title on Bradley Beal? I know he is a great scorer. But we have more needs that just one great scorer.
There have been numerous posts that show how much our roster will basically be decimated to Brown / Tatum / Beal and all vet min / rookie guys if we somehow manage to trade or sign him. Are we somehow by a miracle going to avoid injuries to one of those 3 players? Is that team winning an NBA title? I don't think so. It just doesn't seem realistic. Too top heavy.
I feel like Beal just makes too much money without being the transcendent / dominating player you need from that type of salary. I mean that is Lebron / KD / Curry type of money. I don't feel like Beal is in that stratosphere. I also don't see the team play / ball movement getting better with Beal / Tatum and Brown. Does Beal make our whole team better, does he raise the level of the whole team? I am not convinced. I am actually worried that it will be another Kemba type situation. We sign a guy to a big deal, and we never get what we expect out of him.
Let me put it this way: Would you do this trade?
Celtics in: Beal + second-round pick
Wizards in: Smart + Timelord + JRich + Horford + Romeo + Grant + Edwards + BOS 2022 first
I'm assuming we'd have to sacrifice our 2022 pick in order to dump Horford's partially-guaranteed expiring contract. At the same time, we'd also gain a pick by dumping Romeo.
This is basically what we are talking about. Personally speaking, I'd do that trade. Mind you, Smart and Timelord are about to get paid in 2022. They are on team-friendly deals right now, but this will probably change next season. We already know we aren't good enough to win with our current supporting cast. What's the point in paying everybody and running it back?
I'm not thrilled about the fit of Beal next to the Jays either, but I believe he's our best shot at winning a ring.
