I don't recall reading this or it being discussed lately: what is our status with Jabari Parker? We still own his rights, $2.3M non-guaranteed, and we can cut him at any time with no repercussions?

$100k of his salary became guaranteed when he was not cut by yesterday.  Half of his salary becomes guaranteed if he makes it out of training camp.

Thank you

If we’re all about maintaining “flexibility” rather than winning this season, a Marcus trade makes sense.

I hate that account, as they just tweet things they read from other writers.  In this case, Chris Mannix.  Here is the full passage from the Mannix article that they don't cite to:

Quote
Boston’s acquisition of Josh Richardson could spell the end of Marcus Smart’s run in Boston. Smart has become a fan favorite over seven years in Boston, but Brad Stevens has been frustrated by Smart’s unpredictable play in recent years, per sources. Smart, one of the NBA’s better perimeter defenders, is entering the final year of his contract. Boston could extend Smart, but two people familiar with Stevens thinking tell SI it’s more likely Stevens will look to trade Smart before the start of the season. Boston shopped Smart last season, seeking multiple first round picks, a team executive with knowledge of the discussions told SI. Smart’s value now? “Probably a first round pick and a rotational player,” a high ranking Eastern Conference executive told SI. “Might be able to swap him for similar player that fits a positional need. [Danny Ainge] valued him like an All-Star though—he is not.”

Mannix says "it is more likely" they look to trade him.  Another chance of showers prediction.

I am sure that the Celtics would trade Smart for the right deal.  It is not like he is or ever was "untouchable".  Right now, he is our starting PG though.  We'll see.

Ah crud. I wish we'd waived him. I do not like his game.

I'd love to see Lonzo and LaMelo play together. They would be so much fun. A two guard backcourt. Run and gun basketball. Lots of amazing passes.

That would be one of the most exciting teams in the league.

Yeah, not sure how we are going to contend at this point, so I'd rather get a similar expiring and a future 1st if possible. It'd be a disaster to let him go for nothing next offseason.

Mannix is just like the rest of us flailing in the dark.   Recall the trade deadline he was  thought JJ Reddick was the target.

Based off their moves so far, the Cs have no plans on trying to contend this year. It’s all about flexibility and saving money.

I'm not a fan either, but $100k is a simply a generous training camp invite.

Scrolling through twitter it seems like the Celtics want to try to get Lonzo Ball but also want to try to get Patty Mills but also Marcus Smart is a pillar of the team so he's not going anywhere but also Stevens is fed up with him so he'll probably be traded but also the Celtics just got Kris Dunn to play pg but also he's not going to be staying around for long but also none of this matters because it's going to be a bridge season to next summer when they actually make there move to be in contention.

It's all very clear.
