Moses Brown 7-2 with 74 wingspan only 21 runs the floor, rebounds and shot blocker. He will get stronger good motor. Some think if he was in this draft 15 to late first round. Seems to have a high upside.

Let’s get this kid in the gym shooting 5,000 3 pointers a day. Wishful thinking, but imagine what he could be if he had a 3 point shot in his arsenal.

You never know, just look at Horford. Never really shot 3’s until his last couple years in ATL. Now he’s one of the better stretch bigs in the league.

rollie god bless you, but who are "some people"who think he would go 15 to late first?  That is utter nonsense.  This is a strong and deep draft with a lot of really good scorers, shooters, play makers, and large forwards who can play make.   Brown would not be drafted first, and frankly I doubt would be drafted in 2nd round.  I hope he can become decent, but he is a project.

His last 32 games he started them all and averaged 9.8 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.2 bpg shooting 53.9% from the field and 63% from the line.  Obviously playing on a bad team, but he is a 21 year old big man.  Those guys often take years to fully develop and there he was holding his own in actual NBA games playing real minutes against starters.  He obviously wasn't drafted, but he was the 24th rated high school prospect and went to UCLA.  I think you are seriously underrating his potential.

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

He looked like Wilt Chamberlain in the first half against us out in OKC this year!  Almost had a 20/20 in the first half.
Yup

I'm cautiously optimistic.  That said, I really liked Henry Sims at one point when he put up big numbers starting for the process Sixers a few years back, and he didn't last long in the league.  There are some key differences though.  Brown is younger right now than Sims was as a rookie (and his success in Philly was year 2).  Brown was also a pretty solidly rated high school prospect and played just 1 year at a major Pac 12 school with fairly respectable stats, while Sims did go to a major college (Georgetown), he was there for 4 years and really only had decent success his final season (and that was still worse statistically than Brown in many respects in his 1 season at UCLA).  I just think we've seen what Brown can do to some level and he should only get better.  We know he can at least perform for a bad team against real NBA players.  It would be unrealistic to expect any player taken at 16 to be anywhere close to as good as Brown was as a starter in OKC any time soon.  Now I'm sure there will be at least 1 player (and probably more likely several) that are taken in the back half of the 1st round or 2nd round that will end up better than Brown, but finding that player or players is never easy.  There are no sure things anywhere in the draft, but the farther you get away from 1, the harder it is to predict or find those players.

I was knee deep in studying this draft and our options at 16.  That has influenced my opinion here.

I think Moses will offer more value, to the Celtics, than any player we could draft there, this year. We have too many projects already. A 21r old with 1 year of NBA experience vs. a 19 yr old who probably would spend the most of his time in Maine.

Ideally he plays when RWIII and Al doesn't, so 11th+ on the depth chart. For almost free, given his contract.
As a "throw in" in a trade, not a bad get.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I mean, the kid seems like a clear upgrade over Tacko and Kornet. I know people are calling him a throw-in, and I'm sure he was to some extent, but I think the Cs requested him specifically.

Looking at more of his highlights, he doesn't look anything like TL, but he is also like 6 inches taller. Really nice athleticism for 7'2" and he's so young that he still has a decent ceiling. At the very least, he's proven he can play at the NBA level and he's signed for super-duper cheap for the the next 3 years. Really hoping he can further develop under the new coaching staff. Definitely a promising prospect.

At a glance -- because I know little to nothing about him -- he looks more like a big man prospect you get late in the first round to early in the 2nd. Good body, good size, average athleticism + little to no skill.

Guys like that that go on to big things are usually elite athletes like DeAndre Jordan which Moses Brown is not. Guys who are solid but unexceptional athletes go from replacement level bigs to borderline starters - typically speaking.

Relative to the #16 pick, I would prefer to have the pick.

I'm hoping the change in environment - going from a tanking franchise to one building towards a title run -- will give him a bit more drive to improve his game.  if he can become solid on D, able to know when to finish at the rim vs knowing when he needs to pass it back out and can possibly develop a consistent shot out to 10-12 feet, that would make him a real asset.

I still think Timelord is the solution at center.
Hopefully Timelord stays healthy.
Glad to have insurance though
