His passing numbers are terrible. 920 minutes played. 10 assists. Only 43 turnovers.

He must never touch the ball unless he is open for a dunk.

His coach and teammates clearly do not trust him to do anything other than dunk the ball.

That is a clear picture of how unskilled he is.

Dude is an athletic 7’2”.  Of course they’re going to get him the ball right at the rim.  He can be a fine offensive weapon simply by setting hard screens, rolling to the basket, and getting offensive boards.

He killed us this game

This was another of his good games

And another

Those were some of his better games.   I would bet he helps us more than Luke K. Not a Worldbeater by any means but size has a quality of it's own

He looks active, good reactions on D and a good second jump. Still looks raw, and needs to add a bit more bulk, but he has some promise.

That game against the Celtics, Williams was bad.  Not boxing out, getting beat down the court, essentially leaving him open.  People said he had 20 pts in the first half and then nothing in the second.  Either Williams made an adjustment or someone else covered him (or better team defense maybe too).  Those were really easy buckets.  Good for him for taking what we gave him but that was a really soft 20 points.

That said, I am perfectly happy to get him essentially for a first round pick.  He moves well, has really good hands and reactions, some touch on his short range shots.  All the raw materials you want to see with a big like him.  I guess the one criticism is that he is not a good passer.  It is tough to get assists when you are the one that everyone leaves alone.  I am not too worried about the passing/assists.  If he starts getting double teamed, then we can worry about passing.

Trade could have easily not included Brown and most would have been okay with the deal based solely on moving Kemba and his salary while getting Al Horford back. The 1st rounder would have been the penalty for moving Kemba's contract and saving $12 million or so.

But Brad also got Brown.

Is he a star? Not close. Bad or unused as a passer. Can't or won't shoot outside of 5 feet.

But he is big, like real big. And real long. And athletic. Kid beats almost every NBA center he guards down court. He has a good motor. And he has produced for half a year versus NBA starting players. How many chosen 16th and after in the draft will ever be able to have a half season in the NBA like that?

Draft is a crapshoot. We have actual footage versus NBA players to evaluate Brown. He is a prospect probably every good as someone the C's could have picked and yet farther along because of his NBA experience.

And he fills a need...3rd string center that has the ability to step in as a back yet is still developing and still has upside.

Overall, I am glad he was part of the deal.

Maybe I have a thing for Celtics named Brown. Walter. Dee. Jay. Now Moses.

He looked like Wilt Chamberlain in the first half against us out in OKC this year!  Almost had a 20/20 in the first half.

Now I remember this guy in that game! He killed us in the 1st half. Hey let's give him a chance to back up the other bigs.

He’s very big. That’s basically all.

Will be a really solid 3rd string big though. Better than Kornet.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I got the homer thing and there's nothing I can do about it...

I've watched 40 minutes of his film from UCLA on to Blazers and OKC.

He runs really well. My daughter was a track star so I have a general idea about form and his is good along with the fact that he's 7'2".
In turn "he runs the floor well" gets back on D, looks quick in transition on offense etc.

His hands are very good. It's hard to have a 7'4" wingspan and have coordinated hand action. He has good hands for both receiving and making passes. Also watch him dribble, he has a good handle.

He doesn't pass much as if he gets the ball, it's his job to dunk it...he is always taller than any opponent in the lane...always.

From the line he's 62% which is ok.
They didn't have him shooting from outside.

His timing on blocks is good. His jumping is accurate. (His blocking game is much less dramatic than Robert's, but it is difficult for an offensive player to shoot over a 7'4" wingspan).

He uses his skinny frame well on defense. His feet are good. Without some more weight he will be road kill occasionally, but, he has a 7'4" wingspan and there aren't that many of them out there.

On offense he is a dunkathon. Hands are very good around the rim and he is very quick and aggressive underneath complete with being skinny. He's got some bark in him when going for the ball.

Love Tacko but I can't even compare the two players, Moses should be a legit backup center in a year or two, he's played 953 minutes in the NBA which isn't much.

Finally, Stevens got him. If you listen to Stevens talk about players that the Celtics have signed, in a round about way, Stevens will reveal why they signed the guy. "Kornet moves well on defense" was a quote when they signed him.

Don't think Stevens would have bothered to get Brown (who was signed as a FA by OKC after Blazers released him) if the Celtic's staff didn't like Brown's game.

I say he gets minutes, but, yes, his NBA career is hanging by a thread except, on the Celtics he's behind Robert who misses 50% of his starts...so there ya go.

He can't shoot as well as Kornet, but he moves SO much better, it isn't even funny. tstorey w/ a good breakdown of Brown as a player. This is an underrated pick-up - especially for the contract size/length.
