Thank goodness we’re not doing some Coach/GM dual-role BS. That never works.

Unclear how Brad will do in attracting FAs and making trades, but I do believe Ainge's DRAFTING got significantly better when Brad joined the organization, and it sounds like Brad was excellent at doing due diligence and analyzing college players (which makes sense based on his ability to spot diamonds in the rough when recruiting HSers as well).

This also allows us to take a chance on an up and coming coach and, if Brad needs to pull a Pat Riley and take over the reigns at some point, he can.

Unclear how this will turn out, but I imagine the players feel strongly about Brad (in a positive way) and the org. felt keeping him around was good for continuity (and hopefully more).

im worried about Brad as GM
he has no experience at all in that area

is it a given that he's the GM now?
no chance we can get Ujiri or promote someone else who knows that job better??

im happy w the new coach thing
but without a decent GM its not gonna go that far

Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Jason Kidd and former Atlanta Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce are expected to be head-coaching candidates for the Boston Celtics, league sources tell

🤢

The same Lloyd Pierce who was just fired, only to see his team go on an immediate and sustained hot streak?

I just hate Kidd on a personal level.  He was always one of the most hated opponents to play in Boston, and that was before the wife-beating episode.
agreed.  these 2 are not the best candidates to bring in.
The 1st names floated generally don't get the job.  Hopefully they are just given token interviews for appearance sake and management already "knows" who they want.

Thank you for your service DA. Even with the recent struggles I don't think he ever dipped past top 5-10 GM in the league.

Personally happy that we're keeping Brad. I think he has a proven track record for leading programs he just wasnt a great fit as an NBA head coach.

Hate the Lloyd Pierce idea and have no interest in Jason Kidd. I think Kidd deserves another chance but I dont want it to be here.

I am hoping for Jerry Stackhouse or Juwan Howard although Howard might hate Boston from his Heat days. Think this locker room deserves a former player after the Stevens Era.

I wonder who first floated getting Danny out and making a run for Ujiri.

Not Ujiri but shaking it up like this is better than not doing anything. The season was a disaster, and all the excuses were ridiculous.

Great day for the Cs.

If we hire Lloyd Pierce or Kidd...I have serious doubts about this team's future.

how would they know who candidates are when the team has not even announced these moves.  Just speculation and clickbait.  How the heck would they know who Brad would choose?  It will most likely be someone we do not expect.  Someone who Brad knows their work well.  Could be college, could be a former player, could be a current assistant for a coach he has a good relationship with.

Kidd was at Game 4 in Boston

Is this for real?  Source? His current team had a game in LA the same night, so that seems dubious.

Why are we not hearing Kenny Atkinson's name thrown around?

Also, Brad has been known to treat his players like family.  Will he have the guts to trade any of them?
Oh boy I forgot about him. Fantastic offensive coach whose defensive issues can be mitigated with good defensive coordinators.

I wonder if Brad moving up to a FO role is also a sign that the organization was souring on him as a HC. Maybe they think he can help in the front office though. Also, didn't Brad turn down a big deal to go to Indiana? Could this have been why?  :o

There's definitely a lot of factors and scenarios in play here, but this is a big bombshell early in the morning, especially just 12 hours after being eliminated.

While I applaud the need for an overhaul, keeping Stevens around, in any capacity, will not lead to anything good: the deck needs to be cleared.

One thing they need is more visible diversity in the Celtics management. I can't believe Stevens adds anything to that.

It was time for a shakeup but I question Brad leading the front office. I am unsure of what he has done to be qualified for this. Maybe he has been more involved behind the scenes than I know...at least I hope he has.

This looks like more of a money saving situation than anything else. They have committed a lot of money to Stevens long term. It figures he sticks around. So they kick him upstairs.
This is not a rich franchise.

Who said we had to wait till the draft. Finally some fireworks. We told y’all Brad and Danny need to go...It would have been a disaster to run it back.

I think that Stevens soured on being a coach, which is probably one reason he didn’t take the Indiana position.  Clearly the Celtics haven’t soured on Stevens in anyway, as they wouldn’t give him new authority if they had.
