Gotta think Zarren takes the reigns if this happens.

While I am Zarren loyalist, I think that Wyc should strongly consider making Masai Ujiri an extraordinarily wealthy man.

That'd be interesting, and I'd be in support of the move. More than anything, I just hope management gets it right and this doesn't linger long into the offseason. It feels like the franchise is at a critical juncture right now.

Call OKC and offer Sam Presti the farm. Bring him back home.

Presti is very good, but doesn't he have the same question marks that Danny has had since 2009?  He's very good at accumulating assets, but seemed incapable of getting over the hump.  Plus, he should have a permanent black mark for trading Harden:

I wonder if Ainge feels his hands have been too tied by budget limits from ownership to make all the moves he wanted.  I would have thought he was just exhausted, but since he’s reportedly considering other opportunities, that feels more like some sort of friction.

Other than Danny, I know nothing of (the abilities) of our front office.

Who dis? Why they good/bad? :)

(brb, gonna do some wikipediaing and see if that gets me somewhere!)

Zarren is Danny’s top assistant.  He’s extremely bright and is a wizard at the salary cap.

Masai Ujiri is team president of the Raptors, and I believe his contract is up.

If Danny stepped down the Cs need some new voices in the room.  Ujiri would be a great replacement for Danny and Zarren should be GM reporting to Ujiri.  The C's need some new talent evaluators as well.  While I would miss Ainge this may be for the best.  If this change does happen then Brad's on the hot seat next year and every player outside of Tatum will be available.  New Voice means no loyalty to current roster of players.

If Danny Ainge exits, he isn’t expected to retire, sources told @SInow. Ainge has been running the Celtics for nearly two decades. Sense is he would look for other opportunities.

Interesting.

Wow.  What is going on here?  Is there more friction between Danny and Ownership then we know.  Is Ownership tired of not closing the deal?  I never got that impression.  I don't think Ainge can do this unless he gets permission from the C's to pursue other opportunities.  He's under contract correct?

This would tick me off.  Build this team your way.  Leave them in shambles after the most difficult season in a decade.  No more assets, no cap room and challenges everywhere.  Only way this would be true is if the team is pushing him out.  If not then wow.

Fantastic draft history, has made good trades and has done a lot with one of the smallest market teams in the NBA.
I think he deserves a chance at a major market franchise

I don't have the tweet, but just heard the following:

Danny stepping down.
Brad Stevens taking over basketball operations.
Team looking for new head coach.

I don't buy that.  And if it's true, I don't agree with it.  Brad isn't qualified.

I feel like this was in the cards for some time. I'm guessing that's part of the reason why Brad turned down the Indiana deal honestly.

But I can't believe Brad would want to leave coaching, it seems he really enjoys it. I'm pretty nervous now. New coach + first time GM...
