I think Brad is pretty well liked and respected around the league so maybe that’s one thing going for him.

Why are we not hearing Kenny Atkinson's name thrown around?

Also, Brad has been known to treat his players like family.  Will he have the guts to trade any of them?

Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Jason Kidd and former Atlanta Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce are expected to be head-coaching candidates for the Boston Celtics, league sources tell

🤢

The same Lloyd Pierce who was just fired, only to see his team go on an immediate and sustained hot streak?

I just hate Kidd on a personal level.  He was always one of the most hated opponents to play in Boston, and that was before the wife-beating episode.
agreed.  these 2 are not the best candidates to bring in.

If we hire Lloyd Pierce or Kidd...I have serious doubts about this team's future.

Yep. I'd rather take a shot with an unproven than a proven failure.

Wic needs to realize Boston doesn't benefit from geographical location and needs to work harder to get and retain talent.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I can’t see Pierce being a viable candidate so soon after he got canned mid-season only to have the Hawks turn into a top 4 team in the East immediately after his departure.

And Kidd?  I don’t think his history of domestic abuse will be sellable in Boston.

I doubt last night was the last game Brad coached. He’s too young and too good (despite what some on here think) to stop. He’s a basketball junkie at heart, so I think he takes a few seasons to build a roster around Tatum (and presumably, but not definitely, Brown) and eventually gets the itch to take the helm.

Either that or he will go back to college where he can make more money and not deal with egomaniacs.

Well, this does mean we are going to find out some things about Ainge and Stevens. They both tend to keep their opinions to themselves, but this is going to force some daylight into the differences in their thinking.

Picking Stevens seems odd on the surface, but the C's management isn't stupid. He must have presented a compelling plan to the owners, one that broke with Ainge's direction. I can't see them doing this otherwise. I certainly expect more change now. I just hope it doesn't mean trading Brown.

I wonder if Paul Pierce would be given some sort of role with the team once this shake up is done.

I think that Brad running basketball ops qualifies as fresh ideas.  I don't think he'll be a Danny clone - he can think for himself.  He's also a smart guy and he can recruit.  Now I think I can see why he turned down Indiana.

As far as a coach I wouldn't buy into media speculation too much at this point.  As someone mentioned he tends to play things close to the vest.  He's probably already got his choice in place.

how would they know who candidates are when the team has not even announced these moves.  Just speculation and clickbait.  How the heck would they know who Brad would choose?  It will most likely be someone we do not expect.  Someone who Brad knows their work well.  Could be college, could be a former player, could be a current assistant for a coach he has a good relationship with.

The SHAKE UP!!!

It’s what the team needed. If it wasn’t coming in the form of player personnel, it needed to be in the coaching staff. We might get all of the above in this off-season!

I wonder how much "Being the Celtics" (and not, well, Mia/Lal/Lac/Nyk/Bkn/etc) hurts our front office these days.

Oh well.

It’s one of the reasons why I think bringing in an outsider wouldn’t hurt.

Ujiri has been quite successful at all aspects of his job, including delivering a championship.  He also happens to be black, and is quite involved in social activism.  That could help resolve some of the stigma related to the Celtics.

Unfair, of course, but maybe true.

Ujiri is definitely a gambler. He makes deals.
