Do we even bother trying to re-sign him with how Nesmith is emerging? ;D

Lol I say yes.  It would be a wasted asset and use of the trade exception if we don’t in my opinion.  We could always try to flip him later if we want to.

Yeah, he's also been so bad that we should be able to get him on a good deal.

I think we could only expect a discount if the market thought he was permanently impaired by COVID, which I think is unlikely. Still it’s nice to dream

While I know he’s not nearly as awful as he’s been with us (before and after covid), he’s proving why I thought we wasted the TPE on a player like him. He put up good numbers on a bad team. I wouldn’t be mad if we resigned him on a value contract, but I also wouldn’t fret if he walked, either.

He hit 2 big 3s tonight in the comeback...also he made that great pass at the end to Tatum, that should have been an and 1

Or when teams realise that his RS numbers on the Magic overstate his abliities. I think we'll be able to get him on a very nice deal (MLE-ish money), especially if we make a deep playoff run with him being a key role player for us.

Unsure on Fournier his defense is a concern on and off the ball. If he doesnt pick it up in the playoffs I feel you let him go and ride Nesmith next year.

Let's not give up on Fournier just yet.  He had a couple of nice games back on Apr 2 (23 pts) and Apr 4 (17 pts) and then didn't play again until Apr 23.  I don't think the last 5 or 6 games are representative of what his potential contribution can be.  We have about 2 weeks and 8 games to get him back and ready for the playoffs.  That should be the focus.

I still believe he will be either starting or the 1st off the bench once the playoffs start.  It's hard to come down on him when we don't know how his response to Covid is impacting his game.  Jason took awhile to get his act together after he returned from Covid.  I'm looking forward to the April 2 and 4, Fournier.

I think Ainge took him for a reason:

Nine year vet, 15 playoff games
FGA 44.8%
3PT 37.6%
PPG 14.3

The Celtics have a lot of young guys already.

I always figured he'd be the bench wing for the J's.
He's only played 9 games here, not going to prepare the unconditional release paper work yet, unless Nesmith takes ALL of his minutes.

Some people are negatively impacted by this virus weeks if not months after getting it. Not surprised Fournier is struggling.
