So after we add Fournier's contract extension to the books, how do we find a 3rd/4th star to play alongside Jaylen, Tatum (and maybe Kemba)?

How does the money work?

If the money does not work. Do we need to trade one, two or three of Kemba, Fournier and/or Smart to bring in a 3rd star? How do we make a trade package valuable enough to net a 3rd star based around those guys? Are we dependent one of the youth or a future pick showing star talent? Or becoming that star for us to build around?
I’m not sure the Cs need 4 stars. What they need is to complement the Js with an adequate roster of players that can contribute. Fournier (I’m assuming he is re-signed) is a step in the right direction. They need to overhaul the roster and get players that can contribute. Right now roster is full of guys that don’t really do anything consistently enough to warrant regular plying time.

I am not sure we need a 4th star if Kemba can get back to All-Star levels but I do believe we need another star if Kemba cannot get back to those levels.

Jaylen and Tatum have shown a lot of ability but not enough to believe they can win a title in a two-star system similar to the Lakers under Shaq & Kobe or last year under LeBron & Anthony Davis.

We should be continuing to try and get that next piece to put alongside them. Not giving up (on getting star talent) and putting role players around them.

If Jaylen & Tatum continue to prove and show themselves able to lead a team to a title as two man core? Great. That takes a lot of pressure off putting additional talent around them. But that is not where they are now and there is no guarantee they will ever get there.

The Magic will receive Jeff Teague and two second-round picks from the Celtics to complete the Evan Fournier trade, league sources tell @JaredWeissNBA and me. Teague has been told he doesn’t have to report to the Magic and will be waived by the Magic, per a league source.

Pour one out for the legend.

Lol.

Give you 2:1 odds that when Teague finishes his beer and throws his empty at the trash can he misses.

You do realize that Teague was literally the best 3pt shooter on the Celtics, right? Can someone explain why he got unloaded instead of Grant Williams or Carsen Edwards. I would add Green to that list, but I believe he was moved in the other trade.

Because when you're dumping players to get under the luxury tax, it's easier to move guys who aren't owed any money next year.  Also, I'm sorry you don't like Grant, but he's more valuable than Teague.

Business decision. Teague costs more. Can you even buyout a GWill or Edwards?

I'm ok with getting Fournier. He won't average 20 ppg with us but that's ok, we just need him to be a solid consistent per-36 scorer with the minutes and usage he will get with us. It should take some pressure off Kemba, and Smart (hopefully) won't (shouldn't) feel the need to be a hero as often as he does. Fournier will be an upgrade over everyone on our bench.

Shipping Theis to Chicago sucks as I love Theis' work ethic, he's definitely exceeded expectations during his time here, remember he was initially signed for like $1m? He's a hard worker and did all the dirty work that nobody notices, setting screens, boxing out, etc. But I think Danny and Brad are confident enough that Timelord playing more minutes will be an upgrade over Theis in everything at least from a physical standpoint. Let's hope Rob's BBIQ catches up to Daniel's eventually as if it does he will be a very solid player.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Teague was mostly attempting wide open catch and shoot 3s. If Tatum were mostly attempting wide open catch and shoot 3, his 3P% would have been similar to Teague's (if not better). The same goes for Brown and Kemba.

How exactly is he better?

So his 3pt% shouldn’t count because you think too many of his threes were uncontested. Lol...

I’m not sure Kemba returns next year tbh. But whether they get another all star or not, they need to bolster the middle class of this roster. The Js may or may not be able to do it themselves but it will be a lot easier if they have better talent around them in general.

This is interesting: Fournier has shot 43% (186-432) on spot-up catch-and-shoot jumpers. He's going to get a lot of spot-up shots.
