It’s funny, Fournier was one of the first names that came up when we acquired the TPE.

yup

Thats who I listed first or second

He is avg 19 ppg.  He should help boost the offense and give Jays a break
In the regular season? Absolutely. Just don't expect anything great from him in the playoffs - he falls off a cliff against strong defences due to his skillset (the best way I can explain it is that his skills are 'loose', he doesn't have a tight handle, takes a beat to find open teammates with choppy delivery, doesn't have a particularly quick release with accuracy that falls off a cliff when his shot is rushed, doesn't have an arsenal of moves that he can rely on to create separation or openings, etc) and subpar athleticism.
He won't be the 1st or 2nd scoring option for us.  He'll be the 3rd or 4th option when he's on the court.  Tatum and Brown will be drawing a team's best wing defenders.

Kemba, Fournier, Brown, Tatum and Theis/Timelord would be tough for teams to defend.

He was the 'go to scorer from the perimeter' in the regular season. The Magic realised that he was getting neutered badly in both of their playoff series and immediately got a couple of players to shoulder the bulk of the offensive load on the perimeter instead of him (Augustin and Gordon against the Raptors, Ross, Augustin and Fultz against the Bucks) and he was still very poor.
Fournier drew the weakest Bucks wing defender last playoffs in Matthews and still got shut down lol. Again he has major concerns against tough defences even as a 3rd or 4th option.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

I like the Fournier signing for many reasons, one of which is that it allows the coach to play offense/defense at the end of close games.  He can substitute Smart for Kemba on defense, and Kemba for Smart on offense, while having Fournier, a guard with some size, on the court at the end of a game.

Fournier is also another ball handler on the floor which we've missed.

The Magic will receive Jeff Teague and two second-round picks from the Celtics to complete the Evan Fournier trade, league sources tell @JaredWeissNBA and me. Teague has been told he doesn’t have to report to the Magic and will be waived by the Magic, per a league source.

Pour one out for the legend.

Lol.

Give you 2:1 odds that when Teague finishes his beer and throws his empty at the trash can he misses.

I'm imagining Fournier getting all those open shots that Smart is getting. That's a big change. A line up of TIMELORD, Tatum, Brown, Fournier and Kemba at the end of the bucks game gets you a win.

So after we add Fournier's contract extension to the books, how do we find a 3rd/4th star to play alongside Jaylen, Tatum (and maybe Kemba)?

How does the money work?

If the money does not work. Do we need to trade one, two or three of Kemba, Fournier and/or Smart to bring in a 3rd star? How do we make a trade package valuable enough to net a 3rd star based around those guys? Are we dependent one of the youth or a future pick showing star talent? Or becoming that star for us to build around?

Celts can also see how Langford, Nesmith progress

Most teams have two all stars max on their roster

Celts for some reason need 4 at all times?

If Teague was included in the deal, does that mean his contract lowers the TPE hit from $17M to about $14.6M?

No, you can't combine players and a TPE.  We do get an extra TPE that's the size of Teague's salary, however.

I’m not sure the Cs need 4 stars. What they need is to complement the Js with an adequate roster of players that can contribute. Fournier (I’m assuming he is re-signed) is a step in the right direction. They need to overhaul the roster and get players that can contribute. Right now roster is full of guys that don’t really do anything consistently enough to warrant regular plying time.

It is because the Celtics all stars are not top 5 or even top 10 players (at least not yet).  2 is fine if you have a truly elite talent, but Boston hasn't had a truly elite player since KG's knee injury in 2009.

When will Fournier be available to play? What kind of COVID protocol does he have to pass?

I read he will wear uniform number 94.

Fournier is from the Val de Marne suburb of Paris. It's commonly known (in France, that is) as the "94", the two first digits of its zip code.

I believe that he will be the first player to wear that number for the Celtics....ever.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

He has to get a physical first, and players get a couple days to report.  I don't think he has any special Covid protocol given that the entire league is tested daily.  Hopefully we'll see him Saturday, but more likely Monday.
