It’s funny, Fournier was one of the first names that came up when we acquired the TPE.

yup

Thats who I listed first or second

He is avg 19 ppg.  He should help boost the offense and give Jays a break
In the regular season? Absolutely. Just don't expect anything great from him in the playoffs - he falls off a cliff against strong defences due to his skillset (the best way I can explain it is that his skills are 'loose', he doesn't have a tight handle, takes a beat to find open teammates with choppy delivery, doesn't have a particularly quick release with accuracy that falls off a cliff when his shot is rushed, doesn't have an arsenal of moves that he can rely on to create separation or openings, etc) and subpar athleticism.

Don't forget he didn't have much room in Orlando

In some ways he was the go to scorer from the perimeter

With the Celts he will have much more space working with Jays and Walker
He was the 'go to scorer from the perimeter' in the regular season. The Magic realised that he was getting neutered badly in both of their playoff series and immediately got a couple of players to shoulder the bulk of the offensive load on the perimeter instead of him (Augustin and Gordon against the Raptors, Ross, Augustin and Fultz against the Bucks) and he was still very poor.

IN Boston, his job will be the floor stretcher in the corner when Tatum, Brown and Walker are on the floor or the 2nd option when only one of them are on the floor.
Yeah that's what I envision his role on our team being. It's way different from 'hurr we got a 19/20 PPG scorer for two seconds' though, that was my point.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

If you can acquire a player in ANY SEASON for two second rounders, you do it and run like you stole something.

No way in my mind you don’t get at least Boston’s late first rounder for this player

Yeah, I just don't agree.

I like Evan Fournier.  I'll enjoy watching him on this team.

I don't see the wisdom of using any assets, however minor, to bolster this squad.

You’ve dealt with Covid, lost big time players to injury, and still have played in 30 crunch time games (won only 11).

In these cases, you do all you can do to bolster it. Brilliant move by Ainge

Unrestricted
ugh but hope we can resign him

Maybe....  Smart or Walker would have to go in the offseason

He won't be the 1st or 2nd scoring option for us.  He'll be the 3rd or 4th option when he's on the court.  Tatum and Brown will be drawing a team's best wing defenders.

Kemba, Fournier, Brown, Tatum and Theis/Timelord would be tough for teams to defend.

That seems like conjecture at this point. He could be right, but to channel my inner Roy...he doesn't have a source there!

5 of his last six games he has scored over 20 and 2 of them over 30. He is strong from 3 as well. Will be nice to have another strong option for buckets. 2 seconds is nothing for the help and now I am sure we will here why didn't Danny get Gordon or Vuc instead of Danny did nothing once again.

Incredibly underwhelmed. Really? This is the deal we've been waiting for from grandmaster Ainge.

2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Well done by Danny. At least he's sticking his toes in the water of trade deadline moves.

Maybe some kind of 3-way involving Chicago, Orlando, and Boston involving players like Smart and Gordon and Markkanen plus others?

Perhaps not, as Denver may be the Gordon favorite. Oh well.

Annoying that we missed on Gordon but Fournier is a good piece for this team. You actually have to respect him from deep, so it should take the load off Tatum/Brown.

He could have been the one shooting the game winner last night.

Now the question is

Will Brad do anything about playing Smart with 5 min or less in a tight game??

IF even after this trade, Brad plays Smart in favor of Fournier.  I'm done with Brad

Would show me he is not interested in winning

My hope is that this reduces Smart's burden in the offense and bumps Javonte Green off of the roster.

Good deal, and good use of the TPE in my opinion.  We were never going to land a long-term star with it.  The fact that we managed to use it on a solid player, albeit an expiring one, is fine by me.

So let's say with Fournier in the fold the Celts win a first round 4-5 series and then lose in the second round against the Sixers / Bucks / Nets.

Then Fournier signs elsewhere in the summer.

You cool with that?

I probably am.  Makes the rest of this season more interesting for almost nothing.  If you add in who else we would get for the TPE if not Fournier, then I could be persuaded against this move, but right now it looks like something for nothing to me even if he signs elsewhere.

No he couldnt..he was too busy hitting his own game winner...lol...https://sports.yahoo.com/game-recap-magic-112-suns-043100615.html
A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.

Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the final buzzer sounds.

They just got a starting caliber player for essentially nothing. It doesn't push us into championship contention, but it's another good player.

The TPE was never going to get us a superstar. This is fine.

They've been horrrrrible in close games.

This comes down to whether you think that after a certain point a team is who they've shown themselves to be.

I think the problems on this team will take more than a few months to fix.

If Fournier is a long term piece then I like the acquisition.  I'm just not confident of that right now because they can't afford to re-sign him unless they find a way to dump salary, probably either Kemba or Smart.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.
