Well regardless if Danny makes another move or not.  Roster spot needs to be created

so I imagine one of Waters, Edwards, Tacko, Green are goners

Danny probably trying to extract a 2nd somehow

Water and Tacko being two way players can't be the ones that go.

Cs reportedly aren’t done. This opens the possibility of closing with the Js and Fournier as your three wings. Meaning no Smart hero ball, and another guy the opposing defense cannot safely leave to help on the Js. He doesn’t turn it over, he shoots 39% from 3, and he can absolutely attack a closeout. Not a PG but a secondary ballhandler and okay passer. He can help score during the game to keep the Js fresher, and then he’s there at the end.

you know that...that won't be possible. Unless Brad literally yanks him off the court with less than 5 min left in the game

Fournier for picks only puts the Celtics on the tax and exposes them to the repeater. I think there is more to this deal or another deal (with or without Orlando) that is coming soon.

My hope is that this reduces Smart's burden in the offense and bumps Javonte Green off of the roster.

Good deal, and good use of the TPE in my opinion.  We were never going to land a long-term star with it.  The fact that we managed to use it on a solid player, albeit an expiring one, is fine by me.

So let's say with Fournier in the fold the Celts win a first round 4-5 series and then lose in the second round against the Sixers / Bucks / Nets.

Then Fournier signs elsewhere in the summer.

You cool with that?

It’s funny, Fournier was one of the first names that came up when we acquired the TPE.

yup

Thats who I listed first or second

He is avg 19 ppg.  He should help boost the offense and give Jays a break
In the regular season? Absolutely. Just don't expect anything great from him in the playoffs - he falls off a cliff against strong defences due to his skillset (the best way I can explain it is that his skills are 'loose', he doesn't have a tight handle, takes a beat to find open teammates with choppy delivery, doesn't have a particularly quick release with accuracy that falls off a cliff when his shot is rushed, doesn't have an arsenal of moves that he can rely on to create separation or openings, etc) and subpar athleticism.

There has to be more to this deal, otherwise it's spending money to put a nice new sail on a sinking ship.

Sinking ship ? Fournier is a great add. For nothing

Yep.   For a time limited space.

They used two second rounds picks, on top of the two second rounders they used to get the TPE in the first place.  That's not nothing.

Why are you complaining? You sat here a couple years ago drooling over a ‘Lou Williams’ type bench player. This guy is the same type scorer off the bench. For nothing.

I still don’t believe it’s just 2 seconds. Nobody on here does that deal if you’re Orlando

If you think Dmart will stop shooting and not play hero ball you are kiding yourself...Smart will never ever change.

If he is in the game with 1 min left trust me he will shoot ill adviced threes and still play hero ball.

He needs to be traded thats what danny needs to do to stop this from happening.

I would be. Tell me, what are the chances that a pick in the 45-55 range will become even an average role player?

Don't forget he didn't have much room in Orlando

In some ways he was the go to scorer from the perimeter

With the Celts he will have much more space working with Jays and Walker

They could always work out another sign and trade and try to recoup one of the 2nd rounders.

The TPE might not have been worth as much as we thought in terms of trades.

Love Fournier's fit on this team. When there were rumors of Aaron Gordon and Fournier, I was more excited about Fournier.

A couple years ago the Celtics were a team with hopes of going far in the playoffs.

This move would be a home run for a team with a real shot at going deep in the playoffs.

For anyone who still sees this Celtics team that way, I totally get the appeal of this trade.  That's not my perspective at this point.

Exactly

2nds has brought nothing to the Celts  -  Waters, Edwards and a bunch of 2nds traded in 2018 that amounted to nothing

The best out of the bunch could be Yam, and who knows
