Gorman was correct in his criticism. Brown and Tatum deserve a decent part of the blame because they're the best players - they do play selfishly at times (Tatum much more so) and if they play poorly the team plays poorly.
I disagree.
You don't ask Bernard King to play like LeBron James.
Guys have different specific skill-sets. Asking Jaylen and Tatum to be players they are not and then criticizing them for not being those players is wrong.
Jaylen and Tatum are fantastic players. They should be put in positions to best display their talents and the team this year has failed to do that. It has put them in difficult positions / unnatural to them positions. That is on the TEAM. Not them.
Criticism of Jaylen and Tatum for selfishness is off-base & wrong.
It's true neither of these guys are natural playmakers. Jaylen has already exceded what we had hoped for in the offseason in terms of his ability to create for others. Why are we expecting him to do it consistently all of a sudden? Tatum has really only showed the ability in flashes thus far as well. Consistency is the next step.
The only thing I agree with Gorman about is that the star players get the credit when things are going well, so they need to be the ones to figure it out when things are not going well. His specific criticisms don't make sense though. Kemba's play has an arguably worse effect than Tatum's, and there's an
argument Brown isn't selfish enough. He praised Smart, but Marcus has years of shooting inefficient heat check shots instead of moving the ball.
If you're going to criticize specific aspects, be accurate. Otherwise, he's right that the best players (and coach and front office) need to figure it out.
