Barnes is probably the best fit.  He will probably cost the least.  He's been the 4th option on a championship Golden State Team.  He's on the Kemba timeline.  He can start or come off the bench and allows the team to be long at the win positions.  A 1st and grant Williams should work.  Or Carsen and semi.  Collins is my pipe dream.  With his extension he's on the brown and Tatum timeline.  He'd cost a 1st and either Romeo or Nesmith.  I think Atlanta can get much better offers.  A 3 way deal with Sacramento makes sense with Collins going to Sacramento, Barnes to Boston and a mix going to Atlanta.

The other option is the buyout market.  Players like horford cold be bought out.  There could be decent options there saving the TPE for a sign and trade in the off-season.

The final player is pj tucker.  Expiring and could be had for a few 2nd round picks.

I just love the volume of shooters that some of the competition has this year. With PP and Kemba back we begin to get some of that feel.  If Grant, Semi, Theis and Marcus can get that reliable feel - that’s great, but I’m not feeling it yet.  Actually Theis been looking solid from distance recently.  Of course Carson and Nesmith could get there.    But one or 2 legit, ready snipers would go a long way to  strengthen this team.  Along with defense at the 5.

Grant Williams is somehow shooting the 3-ball at 49% (19/39) this season.
He wasn't playing well at the start of this season, but that looks to be a career-changing improvement.

Overall 3-point-shooting has been remarkably good leaguewise.

Last year: 1 team (Utah) shot 38%, 7 teams >37%, 20 teams >35%.
This year so far: 3 teams >40%, 12 teams >37%, 27 teams >35%.

Clippers make 15.0 (3pg) at 42.4% (!!!) and they even have a couple of bench guys in Coffey (33%), Mann (28%) and Kabengele (20%) who drag the percentage down.....

Do you think there’s a reasonable chance that Horford gets bought out? He’d be a perfect fit for sure. He’s been playing well lately too.

It’s unfortunately not realistic. In a buy out, OKC would have to absorb approximately $10 million per season for the next seven years in dead money on their cap.  They have no incentive to do that, particularly as they have one of the lowest team salaries this year.

Didn't Horford's contract have a non-guarantees on it? Did trading him guarantee the contract?

I think last year is team option.

$14.5 million is guaranteed in the last year.  Counting this season, he’s owed a bit less than $70 million guaranteed, which could be stretched over seven years.

Harrison Barnes' three point percentage is impressive but his volume is only average. Around 4 attempts per game despite playing 35mpg last 4-5 years.

Now his teammate, Buddy Hield, that is what a shooter looks like = 10 attempts a night on 40% accuracy.

Volume + shooting efficiency. Gotta put them together.

Excellent, thanks Who!

So like I said he's really a poor man's version of what we essentially already have.

Seems like if we're going to acquire anyone it should be heild.

In fact I couldn't disagree with ainge more I think a heild type shooter, esp. on the bench is exactly what this team needs the most.

Teague needs to be phased out or cut, just needs to not see the floor for this team. It'd b one thing if his offense was even just mediocre but it isn't and defensively we may as well have IT out there. I've never been a fan of 2 PG' backcourts and that's what happens when teague is on the floor. Bad signing.

We need shooting from the back up 2 spot more than anything but an actual SG that can play would help.

i may be missing something, but i do not think there are 42 teams in the nba this year.

It’s cumulative.  The teams shooting better than 40% are also counted in the teams shooting better than 37% and 35%.

okay, but that is an odd way to run the stats.

i agree on barnes.

he has a descending deal and would be here for 2 years after this one. he has averagd close to 40% 3pt shooting over the past 3 years on decent volume.

barnes could slide next to Tatum and Brown and we wouldn't have to see any Theis/TT lineups ever again. or, he could be a pretty good sixth man.

We already have plenty of guys that do a lot of things well, we need guys that do at least one thing great. It's how roles are defined.

If steve kerr thought he was michael jordan it never would have worked.

The Kings are rolling with this group and are now only about 2 games back from the Celtics. Why would they be rushing to trade away key guys from their rotation?

The Fox, Haliburton, Barnes group is killing it. If anyone is available it's Hield. We need a 4 though as Ainge and Wyc keep saying, not another guard.
