All talk, deadline will pass with no moves and they will make excuses.

I don’t know what the heck I want. Will Harrison Barnes make us world champs? Beat Lebron and AD led team in the finals? It seems so hard to believe. But I’d that a reason NOT to make a move? Love coming to this blog to think out loud . But I’’ve been schizophrenic on Celts this year and where we should go. I know one thing. If we can have a day where the jays get even just a tad better a d we have an open max salary slot my eyes are gonna be bugging out of my head.

I can’t imagine, just due to financial considerations.

Yeah, they both sound like they miss him from those descriptions!

I think Celtics fans need to be patient. Time is on our side due to the jays age. So ainge isn’t going to rush a trade and screw the timeline up
I think similarly - either make an ok trade with the tpe or don’t use it at all. Don’t make a trade just because the tpe might expire unused
The Cs are on the clock. They have 4 years to basically convince those guys to think about staying in Boston. The reality is it’s unlikely that both of the Js stay in Boston for a 2nd deal.
cripes. that is one long ass clock. i think many GMs wish they had that kind of time.  ;D
I’d say it really isn’t. NBA moves pretty fast. In the era of player movement nothing surprises me how fast things change.

I’m also zeroing in on Al. I think if he’s healthy this and next season that’s exactly what we need to compete.
There are ways to acquiring him without giving up too much and stay under the tax. Tristan plus Teague plus Carsen works I think

Danny has always negotiated from the position of strength.
When he is the initiating party in trade talks he seldom has done deals. That’s why you have heard his generic excuses / comments after each trade deadline he stands pat.
He has to find a trading partner that doesn’t expect us to blow them out with our offer. I’m not sure he’s capable of that.
an interesting point. would you be able to show the data that supports this point? or perhaps links to sources that confirm this?

thanks.
He was complaining that role players required too many draft picks last year to trade for .. then you have the failed negotiation when he tried to move up the draft to draft Winslow ... then there are other instances but I’m lazy to type lol

I would not count out the possibility of multiple players.

For example, Barnes is almost as expensive as both Gordon and Tucker
Also dont count out a kemba trade.

'21 Historical Draft
PG: Kyle Lowry / Mookie Blaylock / Mark Jackson
SG: Reggie Miller / Jeff Hornacek / Nick Anderson
SF: George Gervin / George McGinnis / Kyle Korver
PF: Connie Hawkins / Serge Ibaka / Josh Smith
C: Clint Capela / Bill Laimbeer / Jusuf Nurkic

Excellent point. The time to go for it is now.

Harrison Barnes to me feels like the ideal target right now, and a realistic one. He's still just 28 years old (so it's not like he's some 35-year old veteran who is limited). Got size at 6'8", and so far this season is averaging 17/6 on 50% shooting and 41% from behind the arc.

Last night against us, while he didn't shoot as well (I think 7-18), he gave the Kings 24/6/5 and made an impact. He would be a great 3rd or 4th option on this team and give the Jays some help. Gives the team another playmaker too and a little Kemba insurance.

I love that this would put Marcus back on bench . Jaylen creating instead of Marcus . Barnes can be the guy standing still waiting for catch and shoot at the corner. Or  would we operate even better using Kemba like the Heat use Dragic off bench. Someone here I think suggested that. The jays running pick and roll much more instead of Marcus.

I'd love to bring Smart and Kemba off the bench.

There is still the possibility that Pritchard develops into our playmaking PG, Nesmith into our catch & shoot wing and Rob Williams into our center.
Not sure why Stevens will not give RWill more minutes, both to contribute now and to develop for the future ? Does he coast at times ? Is he missing defensive assignments or rotations ? What is the reason discussed on the local radio shows in Boston ?

Huh ?  Seems Tatum and Brown have indicated they are very happy playing in Boston. I don't see us having to prove anything to them.
I also think they need to keep improving if they intend to lead this team to future titles. Both are playing well this year, but they are not at a consensus All-NBA level yet. I wouldn't even call them superstars at this point. But I am very happy to have them as players we drafted and are building around.

I tend to agree with CeltsElite and NYK Fan on this. Make a trade to move the team along, but don't give away the house.

On celtics radio broadcast grande said williams still isn't back all the way with his stamina. So that might be we he's not getting more mins.

As for Ainges comments while I think harrison barnes sounds like who he might be talking about, and I do think he could help.

BUT, I really don't consider barnes an actual shooter. He's like every player we have - a bunch of guys who can shoot.

How do you mean? I would certainly agree that he has more than just a shooter, but he brings just about everything that a shooter does.

What’s this new thing about calling Horford... “Big Al”? That’s never been his nickname, but it was the nickname of a far more important Celtic.
