My breakdown of the last round:
Pick 1: John Stockton.
He was high on my list (very high). I think he's one of the underrated all-time greats. Amazing passer, one of the most durable players of all time, efficient scorer and a massive pest on defence. Depending on the season you pick he's a solid threat from outside too. You know you're good when one of the best defensive guards of the 90s consistently describes you as his toughest guard assignment.
Pick 2: Scottie Pippen.
Pippen and LeBron is awesome. Two of the best passing forwards ever, and Pippen can allow LBJ to take the less difficult defensive match-up. That's one athletic dang team too.
Pick 3: Patrick Ewing.
I know he doesn't have the same reputation as the big 3 centers of the 90's (Hakeem, Admiral and Shaq), but I think he's become somewhat forgotten about. He was an elite defensive presence at times, could dominate in the post with good efficiency, and was a good rebounder. Next to Malone and Bird he can focus on really being a presence on the inside.
Pick 4: Tiny Archibald.
I know some may think this a reach, but Tiny's pre-injury peak was amazing. He had FT numbers that were preposterous for someone so small, his AST% was in the 30's numerous times in his career, and in one season he led the league in PPG and APG. His speed and passing in today's game would be deadly.
Pick 5: Walt Frazier.
All-Defence guard who won championships and could do it all. Score, pass, rebound, you name it. Next to the inside-outside 7 footers up front I like this pick.
Pick 6: Charles Barkley.
I love Chuck. If I didn't get Malone in the 2nd round I likely would have gone after him this round. The rebounding of Chuck and Moses is off the charts. Magic will help the Round Mound eat
Pick 7: Dwyane Wade.
Good pick. Proven chemistry with Shaq, proven ability to change his game depending on who he is teamed up with, and he had a legit MVP-caliber peak. Really can't fault that. Only knock on his game is shooting, but I'd have West as an elite shooter.
Pick 8: Chris Paul.
Chris Paul's peak was really good. Efficient scoring, great passing and really good playing the passing lanes on defence. I don't know if he's who I would have taken, but alongside Dr J and KAJ he can really play the Point God role. Plus I think he'd flourish without all the pressure on him to score
Pick 9: Tracy McGrady.
Another guy I had high on my list. His peak was every bit as good as Kobe's for my mind. Not quite as good defensively as Kobe was at times, but Kobe never scored 30+ with the 3 point shooting TMac was able to.
Pick 10: Giannis.
I thought this was an early pick. His MVP season last season was definitely good, but the questions over his game (shooting) and the lack of post-season success hurts him for me. That's a really long team though.
Pick 11: Anthony Davis.
Not sure I'd have taken AD here. Either AD or KG is going to be playing the 5 full-time, and I think that could cause problems against some of the bulls that have played in the league, like Wilt or Shaq. Both are out East, but even bigs like KAJ and Moses could be a bit overpowering for him.
Pick 12: Elgin Baylor.
Love this pick. Didn't think there was any way to fit him in my team, so I didn't take him this round, but he's an all-time great for sure. Some of the most insane stats.
