I for one stand with Kanye.

I don’t like collectivism or referring to people in groups, it’s an ugly part of society right now that really got ramped up in the 2012 presidential election and has been with us ever since. But in terms of the rhetoric I’ve heard in the last few years, the demonization of white people on the left, the cultural criticisms of black people on the right, this is mild in comparison. Why is criticizing Jewish people as a collective when it goes beyond the pale? None of this is okay. It certainly didn’t start with Kanye
We already assumed that. We can also assume how you view Jewish people.

You literally just asked "why is racism bad"? I know it is difficult for you, but try and think for a moment. Why do you think threatening to go "defcon" on Jewish people might be deeply offensive? I'll give you a hint - Holocaust

Kanye said he was going to go “defcon” on Jewish people, of course, in full context, he meant he was going to critique the culture and behavior in a general manner. As you’ve demonstrated here, I know you don’t understand or care about context, but it actually does matter.

This type of collectivist rhetoric is reprehensible, but this is mainstream society today.

Well, he said "death con", either because he's an idiot or because he meant something more threatening.

He also said "I can say anti-Semitic things, and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what?", and plenty more.

He came out and said he’s a terrible speller, and that he meant the word DEFCON. What evidence do we have that Kanye is violent?

He Also said it’s impossible for him to be anti-semitic, because he’s Jewish
How's Kanye's boot taste?

Except, he’s not Jewish.  It’s Nation of Islam, black Israelite nonsense.

At what point is the line blurred between defending antisemitism, and advocating antisemitism?

Jaylen Brown has recently stated that he won't be leaving Kanye West's agency Donda Sports, despite West’s recent antisemitic remarks.

"First, I don't condone any hurt, harm, or danger toward any group of people or individuals whatsoever. I've been a member of my community, trying to uplift my community, and I'm going to continue to do that."

"A lot of time goes into creating an entity or organization," he said. "The reason why I signed with Donda Sports, it represented education, it represented activism, disruption, it represented single-parent households, and a lot more people are involved in something like that. A lot of people that I work with, work with their families, build love and respect for, spending time in the summer. A lot of people involved."

Apparently represents many people, except Jewish ones.
I’m really disappointed that he is staying with them after the number of anti Semitic posts West has made. I’m truly surprised as I’ve always thought of Brown as someone who cared about all people.
I can’t help but wonder if West was Jewish and made hateful comments about African Americans, if he would still stay there?

Of course he would not stay there if any black person were insulted. Just the usual double standard.

Kyrie aligning with anti-Semites?

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/kyrie-irving-boosts-antisemitic-movie-190040241.html

Quote
Hours before another Brooklyn Nets loss on Thursday, noted “free-thinker” and basketball player Kyrie Irving took to Twitter to boost a movie and book, Hebrews to Negroes, stuffed with antisemitic tropes.

The 2018 film was directed by Ronald Dalton, Jr., and based upon his 2015 book of the same name. A description for the film states that it “uncovers the true identity of the Children of Israel,” while a similar one for the book reads, “Since the European and Arab slave traders stepped foot into Africa, blacks have been told lies about their heritage.” Both suggest Hebrews to Negroes espouse ideas in line with more extreme factions of the Black Hebrew Israelites, which have a long history of misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia, and especially antisemitism.

I'm glad the Nets came out swinging on that one.  No place in the world for hate.

Yep. A nightmare has been unleashed and is spreading. This is apparently what happens when so many people try so often to cancel so many people for relatively minor stuff—someone was offended by a joke, god forbid, or made an analogy that offended leftist ideology—people seemingly have started to tune it out and/or are quietly resenting this walking-on-eggshells-wokeness—while a real monster has grown, is spreading and may eventually dominate (just read between the lines on some of the recent comments made by the orange guy about Jewish people in America, and how many times he has referred to Israel as “your country” when addressing Americans who happen to be Jewish—he’s done that for years and it’s beyond startling that some do not see what lurks at the end of this road if the orange guy makes a comeback…).

Just because the monster started with illegal immigrants does not mean it ends there or just socialists and ends there. It may steamroll over socialists then Jews then god-knows-who-next (maybe you, dear reader? Nobody is safe—just ask Mike Pence!). Anybody who was naive enough to think it would only be illegal immigrants/socialists is someone who has not paid attention to history and does not understand what happens when certain personalities are given centralized power…

Wise words everyone should remember, and hopefully it is not too late for America:

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

While I agree collectivist rhetoric is reprehensible, antisemitism is collectivist rhetoric. DEFCON 3 is literally defined as “next step to nuclear war” so changing it to “Death Con 3” is a pretty scary thing to say you’re going to do to a group of people, any group really. It’s monstrous, really. It’s shocking that this is happening in our society, frankly. It’s shocking that everyone is not absolutely shocked, offended and wanting to stop this antisemitism that is being unleashed. It needs to stop. We need to go back to where we were a quarter century ago. Or even 13-14 years ago.

What we’re seeing in society is a lot of the latter masquerading as the former.

Still no evidence of #3. I think it’s because most of the mean things people are saying can’t be justified. Instead, they attack “cancel culture”. Who is getting unjustly cancelled? I think it’s important to discuss situations rather than lazily throwing everything into “cancel culture”.
What about Colin Kaepernick? Is that a good example?

This is another good example.

The common denominator among all these cancellers: Extreme politics.

Moderation is the key to success. This country needs to reject extremism and needs to reject it now.
I find it ironic that so many conservatives complain about cancel culture and yet have no issues canceling Colin Kaepernick and Liz Cheney and Adam  Kinzinger

Kaepernick signed a multimillion dollar deal with Nike AFTER taking a knee and being out of the league because his low talent level didn't justify the distraction for NFL teams. Liz Cheney was ousted by her constituency whom she turned her back on. Kinzinger retired from congress as he likely would have met the same fate as Cheney. Both will go on to write books, become "best Sellers" as boxes of those books nobody will buy stack up somewhere in China, and both will probably end up with high paying jobs on one of your favorite news networks.

My point is you don't seem to know what cancel culture is or how it's implemented.
You really have no idea what you're talking about most of the time due to your warped world view, do you. Alternate facts and fake news and all.

Kaep was blackballed from the NFL for years based on what he said, not what he did and lost millions and millions because of it. That's the epitome of cancel culture.

Cheney lost her position of power because of her stance on Trump's false claims about the 2020 elections and insurrection. Again, a perfect example of being cancelled. Kinzinger was no different.

My point is cancel culture is used by all in society, yet only one political view denounces it while having no issue using it. Most here are intelligent to see these things. Obviously, you aren't most.

If you’re canceled you don’t get multi million dollar contracts from multinational corporations, you’re not getting book deals, you’re not on TV. Again because of your distorted and hyper biased view, you don’t understand cancel culture.

Try listing a real example of where it’s happening to “my side” and maybe I’ll concede the point. But the examples you listed simply don’t fit.
Of course they fit. Do you really think Kanye has been cancelled and won't be working with other companies to make millions? Do you think his royalties income just stops coming in? You can be cancelled and still make millions. Mel Gibson, prime example. He's still making movies and working with companies. He just isn't making superstar money anymore.

Also, your showing support of Kanye is reprehensible. It kinda only reinforces my opinion of you being racist, as we have seen the dog whistles you have thrown out there over the years. If you worked for a private company I wonder how they would react to that post you made.

But I think you're an LEO which means you're protected and allowed to be that way. And people seem to think there's no racism in law enforcement. Right!!! I know better.

Brown is out on Kanye, so that’s good. The rest of this thread is garbage- talking to bigots about whether or not bigotry is bad. People actually believe that others are getting wrongfully cancelled left and right. When I proposed the question, the only two incidents were Amy Coney Barrett and Colin Kap. Two incidents doth not make a cultural trend. Yet the Tuckers of the world will fight to protect indecency, as his father Dick Carlson did.

All of this because of Obama. I remember hearing people say that he was the affirmative action candidate. They also said he didn’t deserve to get into Harvard or be on the Harvard Law Review. The same voter was happy to elect DJT, a guy that was behind the learning curve for his new position. Amazing the crazy racist stuff that people get away with. Now people are sick of being bystanders to indecency and seeing horrible decisions being made to protect bigotry.

But you see if I say I have been cancelled there are a lot of people who were not willing to give me money who are now willing to give me money. Bill Maher can complain about cancel culture & deplatforming from his platform the... uh... desk of his show hosting Real Time on HBO.
"...unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it."
