the one player that I wished was leaving is stuck here. Sigh.

40 million in potential capspace now

40 million

40 MILLION

for the love of god do not spend money on Dangelo Russell. Fools gold there as your highest paid player.

you offer Brogdon a number Milwaukee cannot match (21 mill - a little bit of an overpay, but that's that.) and then offer the rest of the space to Randle (19 mill)

Can very likely walk away from draft with Goga, Thybulle and Samanic

then worry about getting some cheap vets to teach these young guys. But that starting lineup fits brad to a "T" spacing and defense

Brogdon/Smart
Brown/Thybulle
Tatum/Hayward
Randle/Samanic
Goga/Baynes/Williams

that team coached by stevens make the playoffs in the east and is very young and very skilled. Hayward becomes a huge trade piece by season end when he turns into an expiring contract and has hopefully redeemed himself.

We have Memphis' pick and our own in a draft that will be strong again next season.

Danny had 2 options the last couple of seasons. Win now, or go young. The win now got sidetracked and fell flat, at least we have a massive amount of assets to go young with.

Brown
Tatum
Smart
Hayward
3 picks
all our own picks
Memphis 1st

and now 40 million in capspace

Yeah, I am coming around to the idea of Smart at PG if Hayward is out there at PF. Let the two of them share playmaking duties. Get a big man who can defend and rebound. Build a bench.

If Hayward can be a useful starter, that team could be a 41-48 win team depending on how good that bench and center are.

I have been preferring Smart as our PG for a while now.  He is a good passer, has a knack for driving the lane.
Smart - Brown - Tatum - Hayward - TBD

I say that team still makes the playoffs if we get a decent center.
Randle would be good for scoring and rebounding alongside that squad, but he's not a great defender.

Beggars can't be choosers though

I am down for that.  Can Randle really play center?  If so, that would be a fun team to watch.
Randle gives 100%, he would fit.

Randle put up great stats last year, and seems to be breaking out.  I would consider it, but we would still need to sign a legit rim protector.  Noel anyone? Lol I’d need to look at the full free agent list.

Randle put up empty stats last season. It wasn't a breakout year because it didn't net the team wins.

He is still a tweener. Not quite good enough on the perimeter to be a PF and too small defensively to be a C.

well we could very well be at the point of Noel / Williams as our center rotation.
saddle up.

Danny is hauling off and destroying the entire team. He doesn't deserve the chance to oversee another rebuild. He either corrects the ship and retains our Stars, or he leaves. I hope Wyc realizes this.

Might as well try and move Gordon Hayward. There's no point in keeping him if we can't keep Al.

Move on with Jaylen and Jayson, go young.

I agree.

If the Celts can swap Hayward for Bradley Beal, Celts would not have to totally go young.

Beal's contract is smaller than Hayward's.
That will give the Celts more cap room.

Celts can then sign D-Lo.

Beal
D-Lo
Brown
Tatum
Smart

That's a good start.

Good luck swapping Hayward for Beal. Washington don't have a president right now but even the janitor would probably say that's not a good idea.

Hayward and Beal have 2 years left on their deal.

Reason why the Wiz will do it is because the Celts will offer a pick or picks as compensation.

The Wiz are going nowhere even if they keep Beal.

Boston offering the #14 pick is a good start.
It's only a good start if it's accompanied by the Memphis pick and Brown

Wiz really have no other direction but down.

The #14 pick plus the Memphis pick, with protection, will be a good deal for the Wiz.

Brown doesn't have to be included.
They could probably get unprotected firsts elsewhere though

Celts have more assets than any other team right now.

From what Woj tweeted looks like they don't want to pay him. Either he's looking for a 4th year, or he's looking for more than 3yr/60m and Danny doesn't want to pay if we're not going to contend.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1141128295259475969

I can't blame Al for not wanting to take a hometown discount, even though I would have liked him to retire a Celtic. I can't blame Danny for not wanting to overpay either if we're not going to contend. I CAN blame Danny for letting things get to this point and not doing anything last season to correct the ship, ship out some malcontents, send Gordon to the G-league at the start of the season, because he wanted to preserve all the assets for the run at AD that never happened because the season deteriorated so much that Kyrie didn't want to be here.

The next move will probably be to get rid of Gordon and his contract and go all in on youth. Pick 3 rookies this draft and see how it all rides out for 2 more years.

This is very different from what we had all expected at the end of the season, let alone the beginning of it. It's almost a bad a fall as Cleveland. I hope the young guys (Rozier, Tatum, Brown and whoever else was complaining) enjoy their minutes now, they're going to have plenty of them.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Sign Julius Randle, he would be the best fit and we could finalllllllly get some rebounds

Yeah I'd love to add Randle.

+2.

How much did signing Randle help New Orleans last season?

Same situation for NOP as here now in BOS. Desperate for a quality big man to play next to Anthony Davis / then instead of Anthony Davis. Randle put up stats but he never got them wins.

Why would that change in Boston?

The fact they need Hayward to return to Utah form is now beyond massive. If not, this team might be one of the worst in the East.

If Horford walks, I think they will try to move Hayward somehow and go all in on youth. At least the young guys unhappy with their playing time (Rozier, Brown, Tatum, and whoever else) will have plenty of minutes now, they can't complain anymore.

Time to cash in.

Having Beal and D-Lo would make the Celts a very good team.

It's a quasi rebuild that could end up making the Celts a contender after 2 seasons.
