Trade Marcus Smart in the offseason

You don't trade warriors. You adjust their roles, or you may tweak their minutes. 

You don't trade them unless you're stupid or don't want to win...or you're receiving an Anthony Davis type of asset.

Even then... over the long run, you'll miss Smart.

No...Smart will not be missed if Danny gets Davis in a trade that includes Smart. Tatum won't be missed either.

The C's will have a team that looks like:

Starters: Davis, Horford, Hayward, Brown and Kyrie.

Bench: Baynes, Morris(resign him), Semi, maybe Timelord if he isn't moved in the Davis trade, maybe a rookie if we send just 2 1st rounders, a couple of vets on minimum contracts(Jared Dudley seems perfect. Vince Carter would be good too) and Wanamaker.

That team wins 60 games and is probably a world championship team next year barring injuries. If that happens, no one is going to be lamenting the loss of Smart. People said the same thing about Al Jefferson in 2007. By June 2008 Celtic Nation was like "Big Al who?".

That’s pretty much my dream.  Maybe use some money on a slightly better backup PG, maybe not.

That starting 5 is unstoppable. Just ridiculous. I would spend on the backup PG, give up to MLE money if someone worth it is available. With a team like that I definitely want to win it all, and so I want a PG to share minutes with KI to keep him fresh and provide injury insurance.

Of course, I am starting to hope the current group can win the title this year, and if they do, do you really make major changes to the core?

Kyrie may put in a condition that he will resign only if AD comes onboard

But this would only happen if the Celts got smashed in the ECF or Finals

Ingram trade value is pretty iffy, triboy, due to blood clot.  Ditto Ball, due to disappointing play so far. 

Consensus is that they will have difficulty competing with Celtics for offer.  Of course if they get a very high pick in this draft, that could change.

I think he would most likely return on a minutes restriction and it might be best to build his minutes off the bench by simply taking Rozier's minutes.

Stevens reduction to an 8 man rotation has paid massive dividends this post season. When Smart returns I will be angry with Stevens if he goes to a 9 man rotation and sucks off minutes from Brown, Hayward, Kyrie and Smart to give Rozier minutes.

Just give Smart Rozier's minutes.

how about enjoy the playoffs with the whole team for now....including the #1 effort guy, especially regular season...leaving it on the floor even when the games "don't matter". 

There will be adversity. We did not win the title yesterday, just had a great game.

Plenty of time to play GM between end of the season and draft.

As a lurker mostly, one of the things I've noticed over the years is how threads like this pop up in the post season.  On the surface, it sounds ill timed...but I've come to believe that it's the posters attempt to cut the tension of the playoffs (at least for themselves, perhaps for those who respond also) by focusing on things that will occur AFTER the post season is completed.

It's therapeutic for them it appears!

Surprisingly it is Rozier who has the best Defensive Rating in the playoffs right now from everybody. Also line-ups with Rozier do very well on the boards. Very small sample size, but interesting.

Probably just because Irving is the weakest defender (now that Morris is engaged) and when Rozier subs in for Irving that automatically improves the defense as a result, while not necessarily being the best defender on the floor.

(note: statistically Irving, Hayward, Morris and Horford have been our best overall performers so far)

If Smart is included in a deal for AD, I hope we go all out to try and sign Patrick Beverley. He would be the perfect replacement at the backup PG spot (plus I really like him as a player)

Literally who cares what his father said. He has no role in the NBA, and Davis is close friends with our best player.

I remember when PG was a "guarantee" to sign with LA. And then he didn't.

Just like Kawhi was "likely" to become a Laker. Now it appears he's more likely to become a Clipper.
