I like Smart but the Celts are too "clogged" up. Due to his injury, it's been an addition by subtraction

With players like Brown getting the minutes he deserves. Same for Hayward and Tatum...the team is longer and more talented offensively, while still strong on the defensive end.

With what we have seen, the Celts should explore trading Smart for best return, plus cap space in the offseason

Smart should take Rozier's place.

Smart should take Rozier's place.

I agree this is potential solution

but Smart plays in a way to "will" his way onto the starting lineup,  be on the floor late in games

maybe blame CBS for favoring this vs recognizing how much more talented Brown is

For this reason and for cap relief via trade,  I would explore trading Smart..... who should garner interest around the league

If Brown keeps his excellent play on both sides, Can see us refusing to include him in Davis trade.  Plus Smart salary works better in a trade.

Davis, Horford, Kyrie, Hayward and Brown starting line up.

Bench: Rozier, Morris, Ojelaye

Will find some ring shopper role players to fill in the rest of the bench.  Would love JJ Redick's shooting.

I see this as the most likely scenario this summer with the possible exceptions of Rozier and Morris being replaced by other, cheaper vets.  no love for Rozier at this point and I'm not sure the C's would pay what Rozier wants.  Morris may want a starting role somewhere or may want a contract over and above what the C's would want to pay.

Moved on from "trade Kyrie!" shtick? Trading Smart for anyone other than AD is ridiculous. If anything, we should have traded Rozier.

Triboy, you've said many times you'd let Kyrie go and now you're suggesting we trade Smart. Are you trying to make our starting PG for next season Wanamaker?  :P

And it was getting rid of Horford before that.

Seeing how well Brown and the whole team is playing without him will make me less disappointed if he's in the Anthony Davis trade with Tatum.  I'm leaning towards keeping Brown over him if it comes to that.  I hope it doesn't though.  That's the only realistic Smart trade I'm interested in.

A little piece of me thinks Marcus doesn't really give a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. about being some Bret Easton Ellis character.

What makes you think he craves spotlight star(ting)dom?

At least, I think he wants to win legit. THEN get a massive deal.

His shooting is pretty good now. I don't know his plus minus but he seems like he gives you +6 on D. and some 3s? Money.

He still puts up some dummy shots late in games

When he plays... teams cheat off of him , while focusing on guarding the others

Celtics have enough depth/draft picks to replace Smart

How is this even a question?  The plan all along is to hope someone signs Rozier away from us.  Ans sure, we can start brown with when smart is healthy.  Indeed, Smart seemed to relish coming off the bench before we needed him to come save the starting lineup.

This is a nonissue.
