It's not as career threatening an injury as it once was, chances are he comes back fully.
Guys do not come back the same, they just don't.

Its better than he's a lighter guy, but he's still big man at 7 feet....just sucks.

With quite a few miles on those legs, too, and he’s no spring chicken either.
Good point. You forget that he almost has 1000 NBA games played (reg. and playoffs)

KD could legit come back 25% slower and he'd be a full time power forward and still awesome.

Super sad to see him get reinjured like that though and I hope he comes back as good as ever, somehow.

One thing that was missed in the shuffle - Nurse has a timeout on the final play and didn’t call it, leading to that poor attempt they got. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS call the timeout there! Nurse has shown himself this year to be a pretty good play caller. No idea why he wouldn’t draw something up there to get a better look at a potential title-winning shot. Big mistake the could be very costly.

In a way I think this validates Kawhi’s “beef” with the Spurs. The Spurs thought nothing was wrong but Kawhi often said he didn’t feel 100% right and it led to a lot of disagreements/frustration from both sides.

If Kawhi went out there and suffered an even bigger injury, that would have been bad for his own career. As the saying goes, “only you yourself knows your body and how you feel”. Kawhi was adamant he wasn’t healthy, the Spurs didn’t believe it, and Kawhi felt disrespected/betrayed.

Nice work, Toronto. What a freakin choke job.

I can see how this is gonna play out now ...

"The amazing Golden State Warriors, inspired by a fallen Durant, rally to take Game 5, then go on to win Game 6 at home, then complete perhaps the greatest comeback in NBA history by finishing off the Raptors in Toronto. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the greatest team ever!"

How many layups did Toronto miss? Siakam had two in the first, Gasol had one near the end of the game. Make those, boys, and it's a different outcome. Or perhaps, VanVleet, don't foul Curry on a three pointer like you did in the first. Or, Kyle Lowry, don't turn the ball over in the waning moments.

"We the North" ... what a joke.

And congrats, GS, for ruining Durant's career. I'm no Durant/Warriors fan IN THE LEAST, but I hate seeing guys get injured.

It's not like Durant didn't get 3rd party consultation though. He thought he was right / wanted to be healthy and he played.

It's absolutely bonkers that the Raptors came within one shot of winning this game in which they went 8-32 from deep and the Warriors went 20-42.

Ya know they didn't hold a gun to his head, right?

Imagine if KD didn't play and the Warriors lost tonight.  Tomorrow comes the report:

"Kevin Durant says he was good to play but the Warriors wouldn't let him"

How many people in the media currently scorching the Warriors for allowing him to play would be second guessing them saying they threw away a championship?

"He says he could have played, Mike.  Who knows better than the player?  It's a title, Mike.  You can't throw away your chance at a title.  I don't care how many times in a row you've been to the Finals.  They are never gonna live this down in Oakland!"

Yeah, especially with Danny Green not even able to hit one. Not a good sign for GS next game

I don't know why Lowry settled for a 3 when they just needed a layup or a close-range 2 pointer to win the season.

It's just hilarious that the Warriors were getting royally screwed down the stretch with those bad calls going against them (offensive interference, non-travel call, moving screen that's rarely ever called especially this late in the game)

And they still end up winning by an inch.

They were tough calls, but none of them were technically incorrect I thought.

Which is part of the problem with NBA officials. So inconsistent. Not even game-to-game inconsistency, but quarter-to-quarter inconsistency.

I wonder what KD and his team will think in the off-season with that injury.

This is perhaps one of the reasons why you take the max salary when available and not that silly 1 plus one these new breeds of superstars are taking... With the 4 or 5 Yr max slot you get yourself security.

I'd still take KD in a sign n trade with Hayward if the Warriors want it. 😏😉.. Though this time there is no pick nor JB to go with it.

Having Durant return was not smart. You don’t return off a calf injury in the freaking NBA Finals.

Let alone in a 3 - 1 series lol

But hey - if this ends up being a significant Achilles/calf injury that impacts his free agency, this might actually favor his long-term legacy if the Warriors can somehow pull off this series. After taking a huge hit to his legacy with the cowardly move to GS, putting his body on the line in the Finals and putting his team above his future will likely be looked upon very favorably if GS can somehow come back to win this series.

win or lose he has redeemed himself.....that was truly putting his body out there for his team.
