Yikes. It's definitely serious. Myers up there trying to deflect blame off the organization now knowing that he's likely suffered a career-altering injury in a 3-1 Finals series. Man, this is crazy.

He and the Warriors can make up for it by offering him the full max, even if he misses a year. With what KD had to endure, and all the discounts he took, this has to be the right thing to do by him.

That is devastating to see. I feel for Bob Myers.
Don't see that happening if it is an Achilles injury.  KD might not ever be the same.  GMs need to be focused on the team and be coldblooded when necessary.  Should Danny have given IT the Brinx truck rather than making the smart move and trading him?

How Knicks is this? They are seemingly about to finally land the all-time great talent they’ve longed for (sorry Melo), and he suffers a devastating injury in the Finals.

I don’t care what he said or did to get into uniform, he had no business being out there. I thought the original injury last month was Achilles-related, and coming back too soon would put him in serious jeopardy for a potentially career-altering injury.
This is more Knicks than I ever could have imagined. Huge shake-up.

I'm with you on the second part. I too thought it was an Achilles injury

Knicks front office and fan base must be absolutely furious at Golden State's medical staff.  We can only speculate on how the decision to let him play in game 5 came to be, but at the end of the day they cleared him to play.  Big, big mistake.  See the Ahnold .gif above.

It's not as career threatening an injury as it once was, chances are he comes back fully.

If you think Kevin didn't have his own doctor/trainer/thoughts on the matter you are nuts.  It sucks and was the ultimate worst case scenario but none of us know enough to be throwing out blame.

Let this be known that having a 3-1 lead is never safe.

Let alone a 3-0 lead. The Celtics nearly blew that in 2010 against Orlando. I remember we lost that horrible OT game 4 and Howard concussed Big Baby in Game 5 while Perk got suspended.

Team with the lead gotta take care of business.

Guys do not come back the same, they just don't.

Its better than he's a lighter guy, but he's still big man at 7 feet....just sucks.

Wow I feel so bad for him. That’s messed up—he was trying to show his teammates he cared and instead (likely) ruptured his achilles.
Yeah, he looked so [dang] happy to be on the court and then was playing well and even dived for a lose ball. Then it just popped.

Man - not to be selfish or revel in Durant's injury - but this probably benefits us in a major way. It significantly shakes up free agency, and it likely disallows Kyrie from teaming up with Durant in NY or Brooklyn, given that KD is very likely to stay in GS now for the foreseeable future. As Kawhi is very unlikely to team up with Kyrie in NY (or even seriously consider NY or Brooklyn at all), this means that trading for AD would allow us to give Kyrie the best opportunity to win with another superstar in tow.

The problem is even after all of his talk about winning, wanting to be the leader of a title team, wanting his banner in the rafters, etc., it's very unclear whether winning is Kyrie's top priority at this point, which is why Brooklyn may be attractive to him.
Honestly I think KD was wavering on the Knicks, that is why Kyrie was maneuvering BKN as an alternative. I think he's gone no matter what just my guess at this point.

Yeah, I can't remember one guy who came back and performed at the same level as before.

Boogie is playing right now and he looks like a shell of his former self. I get that Boogie probably has 50lbs on Durant, but still.

LOL Boogie is only listed at 29 lbs more than Durant.

I bet Boogie is to 75 lbs heavier than KD. It's easier for a guy like KD who can shoot and is lighter but its still hard as heck just to get back on the court. Let along be a top 5 player....

With quite a few miles on those legs, too, and he’s no spring chicken either.

On the flip side, though, Durant is a perimeter player with much more need for lateral movement. I think being a bigger guy in addition to that extra movement makes up that difference in weight. A ruptured Achilles is absolutely devastating and something he won’t ever be the same after, especially with his older age and more miles on his legs than someone like Boogie.

I feel as if Boogie is closer to 300lbs than he is to 270lbs right now. Just like there's no way Embiid is only 250lbs still.

Hope KD's career can get on track again.
