Let's start a thread for the 2019 playoffs!

The Boston Celtics will be hosting the Indiana Pacers in the first-round after both teams lost tonight on April 7 (Celtics, with the inability to catch up to Philadelphia for 3-seed. Pacers, who are just stranded in the 5th seed with the tiebreaker loss to the Celtics).

Hopefully, Boston goes far.

I think the participants are all decided, I can't see Charlotte or Miami making it in to displace Detroit. The final seedings might change depending on results. Here's the final games for the remaining contenders in the East:

Brooklyn (clinched, currently 6th) - Miami away
Orlando (clinched, currently 7th) - Charlotte away
Detroit (currently 8th, 1.5 GB Orlando) - Memphis home, NYK away
Charlotte (currently 9th, 1GB Detroit) - Cleveland away, Orlando home
Miami (currently 10th, 1GB Detroit) - Philly home, Brooklyn away

I think Brooklyn beat Miami, Orlando beat Charlotte and Detroit beat both Memphis and the Knicks. So that means:

Mil v Det
Tor v Orl
Phi v Brk
Bos v Ind

In the West the bottom 3 could all change. Jazz in 5th play Denver and Clippers, OKC play Houston and Milwaukee, Spurs play Dallas and Clippers play Utah. Can't see OKC catching Utah even if they lose to Clips and I think Spurs leapfrog them. My guess:

GS v OKC
Den v Clips
Hou v Spurs
Por v Utah

Who knows in the West though.

EDIT: The actual results are in:

EAST:
Milwaukee vs Detroit
Toronto vs Orlando
Philadelphia vs Brooklyn
Boston vs Indiana

WEST:
Golden State vs LA Clippers
Denver vs San Antonio
Portland vs Oklahoma City
Houston vs Utah

My sentiment exactly. March Madness makes the end of the regular season more palatable, but Playoffs is where it's at!

I think if OKC lands 7th / plays Denver in round 1, Denver will lose.

And I think at this point, it's most likely that OKC finishes 7th or 8th in the West, so it could happen.  IMO, Denver is vulnerable for a top team.

yeah ...i think they'd push the heck out of GS ....even if they don't win it would be a heck of a series. .PG and Russ are healthy , fit , locked in and are now used to playing  off one another .  It took a while learning when to defer ....like Wade and Bron at Miami .

Could see OKC and Raps for final .  which if Boston can't be in it , I'd be fine with seeing .  Two small market teams ,  this would devistate the large media outlets. Kill their clicks .

I don't see why anyone should have faith in OKC at this point. They've been some hot garbage the last month of the season. PG came back to earth a bit and their defense has fallen off a ton.

Aren't OKC currently the 6 seed?

Currently but in my earlier post I made the assumption that the Spurs and Clips will move up above them. They've got 2 tough games and the Spurs and Clips only need to win their games to leapfrog them.

I think OKC are in some trouble, they needed the last 3 games against the Lakers, Pistons and T-Wolves to get some wins.

The Thunder, much like the Sixers, are a very shallow team, but in the playoffs with all of the rest and where starters play more minutes, the lack of depth is much less pronounced.  Couple that with 2 top 10 players and the belief is OKC is going to figure it out.  That said, they lost to Utah last year with a very similar team, so having faith in them does seem a bit strange.

Thanks for the thread! Once the seedings and matchups are 100% set, I'll make my official predictions and post them here!

I think in the East, Toronto is the team to beat, not Milwaukee. IMO Toronto should be the favorites to come out of the conference.

They've got the best playoff performer in the East (as long as Kawhi's healthy) and have a deep squad themselves. Unlike Giannis, Kawhi can score from anywhere and is capable of locking down the opposing team's #1 scoring option. Come playoff time, that'll make a big difference.

That won't happen. If anyone is beating GS in the West, it's James Harden and the Houston Rockets.

Warriors will sweep whoever is the #8 seed. Spurs/OKC if they're #7 will upset Denver. Utah will upset Portland.

This might finally be the year where Toronto goes into the NBA Finals. Now that the LeBron road-block is gone.
