Danny has got to do something right?

I mean, this really has the potential to put Celtics out of the playoffs in the second or even first round.

That would be disastrous for keeping Kyrie

Harris seems like a solid get for the Sixers without really giving up much.  Total tank move by LAC.  Can't blame them I guess for getting what they can for a player they could have lost for nothing.  It is pretty clear they do not want to make the playoffs.

I don't think the Clippers have enough to trade for Davis though, even with these added assets.

One thing we've learned from Danny over the years is that he's not really reactionary to others' moves.  He tends to slow play things out and not overreact.

The Philly pick is protected for 3 years and then becomes two seconds. It cannot become a premium pick.

I don't see Gallinari + Shai as that attractive for Davis. The Miami pick is the best thing about their potential offer.

KOC mentioned it on Twitter but rather than try & use Gallinari as a Davis trade piece, they could try & trade him now to get enough cap space for 2 max guys.

They gave up 3 first round picks. (Their 2018 selection, the Miami 2021, and their own 2020)

That's a lot when you have depth issues already with your roster. (and your stars are quite young so its not now or never)

I think they'll explore that.

But given his injury I think they'll wait till the offseason and see if they need two max slots. It seems like the extra picks they just got will facilitate a straight dump if necessary.

I cannot see how trading away some of our Turmoil for help at a position of weakness wouldnt help.

Nice deal for the Clippers. Getting that for a pending free agent is a strong haul.

The worry for Philly is chemistry. On talent, it’s a no brainer.
Jerry West knows what he's doing and I believe that is going to entail making a run for Anthony Davis.  There may be more to come.

I do think this strengthens the Sixers but it's also going to serve to lock in the Celtics for the rest of the season.  No more crap, uninterested performances because they know they have to grind to keep pace.  I do feel like the Celtics have been on that path with this recent hot streak, but this makes it certain in my mind.

Keep in mind too you need to defend in order to win in the playoffs and Harris I don't believe will ever be confused with Marcus Smart in that department.

Let’s feast on Philys mistake and steal Landry Shamet from clippers!
I would send them Bird + clippers pick plus our pick this year.
Shamet is exactly the type of player our bench is missing and brad can teach him defense

Morris vs Tobias looks like a very interesting match up.
Their per 36 stats are very close.

Sixers are not a great defensive team. Who guards Kyrie in the line up? Reddick?

Boston can throw bodies at Embeid.
Yeah but now Kyrie has to guard someone who is tough too.

I do think this helps their specific match up with Boston. But given that that BOS/PHI are very likely 3/4 seeds in some order I don't anticipate a repeat match up. (until the ECF, but I like Raptors/Bucks to beat the 76ers with some pretty high certainty)

Boston's worst path would be as the 4 or 5 seed playing the Sixers in round one, Bucks in round 2 and then the Raptors in round three. They have to avoid that run at all costs. They need someone else to eliminate one of those.

Hardest path for sure, though they'd all probably be great series.

But there's definitely part of me that would love to meet Philly in the 1st round and send them home early.  That would be pretty sweet.  People talk about what happens with Kyrie if the C's get eliminated early, what happens to Butler and Harris if the Sixers get eliminated early?

Thinking about potential of the East playoffs, this just pours more salt on the wound with Victor Oladipo down.  Likely one less great playoff series in the East this year.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

My friend who is a Sixers fan believes if they don't make the finals, they stand no chance in keeping Butler. This is a big pick up for them.

As of now, the Bucks, Sixers, Celtics and Raptors can all end up in the finals. I still like our chances but it is not going to be a cake walk vs. the Sixers this time around.

I like this trade for both sides.

Great move for LAC.  That's a good haul for a rental.  Shamet is a very solid prospect who is already shooting 40% from three as a rookie, and that Miami pick could be excellent (though as the Kings are showing us this year, it's dangerous to make assumptions about how a team will play in 2+ years).

For Philly... they got the best player in the deal.  It was a lot to pay for a three months of a borderline star, but they probably have the best starting five in the east now.  The second round with MIL/TOR/BOS/PHI is going to be ferocious.  And assuming they re-sign Butler and Harris, that will officially end The Process.  No more cap flexibility, no more premium draft picks.  This is the 76ers.

Really like this trade for both teams. Most are probably rightfully giving the Clippers a ton of credit for the amount of assets and cap space that they acquired but I think as a Sixers fan though I'd be losing it with this haul.

What did you need to surround Embiid and Simmons? Crunch time scoring and Spot up 3 Point Shooting.

If Jimmy Butler sticks around he provides the type of difficult to stop Iso scoring that can be crucial in the 4th quarter, and now Tobias Harris provides the consistent 3 point shooting in the starting lineup. Harris is also just on the cusp of lower usage for a star player which still leaves plenty of shots for Embiid and Butler.

Your getting Boban which IMO is no small part of this deal. Boban might be the best player in the NBA that can't play more than 20 minutes a night and provides the team with continued dominant size from the 5 spot when Embiid needs a rest. Of course you also still have the built in marketing and on court chemistry potential of Bobi and Tobi.

I even like Mike Scott for Muscala swap. Scott's had some big moments in playoff series and Muscala had become low key toxic due to his father's racist tweets that surfaced last summer. The Sixers managed to quietly jettison Muscala before any rumors of locker room tension surfaced.

Great trade for the NBA. Bad trade for the Celtics.
