Your getting Boban which IMO is no small part of this deal. Boban might be the best player in the NBA that can't play more than 20 minutes a night and provides the team with continued dominant size from the 5 spot when Embiid needs a rest. Of course you also still have the built in marketing and on court chemistry potential of Bobi and Tobi.

I disagree with 99% of your post, but I'll touch upon this one since it hasn't been brought up.

Boban doesn't play for a reason. He has awful feet, probably the worst lateral quickness in the entire league, and is atrocious in defending the PNR. I mean it's hilariously bad. The amount of easy shots we will get when he's in the game will be great from a C's perspective.

Here is a good article highlighting his D with accompanying video:

Sixers knew they had to do something, that Toronto, Bucks and Celtics were better. Now they’re in a serious conversation.

Harris always seems to cause us problems.

This is what I sent my good pal LarBrd on the trade:

Bad move by the Sixers. Honestly, it doesn't concern me at all. They went after the wrong Clipper. Beverley is the type of player they actually need. Harris is putting up 16 shots a game and "coincidentally" his 3pt % increased since he became the #1 option in LAC and his volume increased. It's not the easiest thing in the world to be effective and efficient on low volume. Prior to the LAC experience he was a low 30's 3PT shooter.

Harris year-by-year 3pt shooting...
26.1, 31.5, 25.4, 36.4, 33.5, 34.7

Now the Clippers seasons...
41.1 and 43.4

I'm telling you it's a lot easier to have a shooting rhythm when you're taking nearly 20 shots a game. Standing in a corner on catch and shoots while taking 8 shots per game is a different story entirely.

So now the problem...
Who sacrifices shots/touches? Embiid who's already complained? Simmons who sucks off-the-ball? Moody Butler in a contract year? Redick in a contract year? Harris in a contract year?

And still they do NOT have a guy that can cover opposing 1's. Irving will absolutely thrash their D.
The Sixers on paper are good, but they lack role playing defenders that know and embrace their role. Beverley, Bullock (who I like that the Lakers got), Covington, etc.

Another interesting point about this trade. Philly would have 51 million in cap space this off-season if they renounce everyone. For example, if Harris and Butler decided to sign elsewhere, they could simply renounce the rest of the team and make a bid for Leonard, Middleton, or another free agent.

Their core would be Embiid, Fultz, Simmons, Smith, and Bolden.

After the intital shock of the trade wears off I’ll say the Clipper pick is bigger downside. Jerry West is too smart for his own good lol I hope he knows they’ll get Kawhi.

I'm guessing this is bad for the Celtics because:

1) Tobias Harris will provide extra firepower against Boston in a 7-game series, with the already built Big 3 in Simmons, Embiid, and Butler.
2) Clippers tank which will kill their draft pick stocks affecting the Anthony Davis sweepstakes.
this is what popped into my head when I heard the news.

I still think the C's would take them in a playoff series as long as everyone is healthy.  That Clips pick is probably not coming to us this year or next.

Can't they also decline Fultz's option? What are the cap implications of that?

Makes their starting lineup a bit better, but now they have even less depth and they still have nobody that even has a chance to guard Kyrie, which is kind of a necessity in a playoff series for someone to limit him as much as possible.

Celtics are still clearly the better team, and we still matchup with them really well. Our bench depth will be a major advantage for us.

This is also going to be difficult for them to gain chemistry before the playoffs, as all four of them like the ball in their hands.

Another good thing about this - looks like this will take them out of the AD trade, as they were probably the biggest threat to us in the summer with signing AD, though they were never rumored to be in the discussion.

TP. Said virtually this same thing. I'm very wary of the fit of those four together, especially only having less than half a season to adjust before the playoffs. And they still have nobody to guard the Kyries of the world. We're still clearly a step ahead of them and still matchup very well with them.

I’d love to see a Philly/Boston ECF. I think it would benefit the C’s greatly to stay as the 3 seed at worst. The East is gonna be a bloodbath that we haven’t seen in years me thinks.

Good pick up for Philly. I've always thought Tobias Harris was good player. Not quite sure what the Clippers are thinking but this could be good news for our Clippers pick. Now we just need Sacramento to cool off a little bit and for Memphis to continue being bad but not too bad.

Clippers are pushing in on a Davis trade right now.

Expirings, youth and a load of picks they can offer, and still maintain max capspace to add more in offseason.

Gallinari, SGA, Harrell, Miami 2021 unprotected, LAC 2021 unprotected, Philly 2020, philly 2 - second rounders, 2 second rounders from LAC for Davis and Hill

I cannot see why they would turn that down.

If they dont want the 1 year of Gallinari, they could take Gortat and Bradley instead and still have around 55 mill in capspace. ( i am sure they could make more)

I will be shocked if Davis is not in a clipper uniform by end of week

I think right now, things are shaping up quite nicely for the Celts to get Anthony Davis this summer

Well that doesnt really state that our odds have improved.

And I still firmly believe teading tatum could bite in the butt.

But if davis is 100% committed and kyrie is 100% committed then brown/hayward will be a suitable replacement

Ainge refuses to guarantee Tatum will be offered this summer.  Doesn't that shift things in favor or LAL or LAC before the deadline?  Why would NOP wait?

Hate this move for Tobias. He’s a more talented scorer than Butler and Simmons, but Brown will waste it.

Will be interesting seeing how Philly goes now. They have really gone all out. No depth now

They'll be playing them all 48 mins in the playoffs
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D
