Not even getting into the completely awkward and misaligned fit that all of these players have together, what in God’s name is LA doing? They’re building the All-Time Questionable Character/Personality team thus far.

What’s the over/under before there’s a locker room incident - a week into training camp??

yeah throwing Boogie into that mix would be fun...lol

I can't believe Lebron wanted things to turn out like this?  Was getting to LA so much more important than basketball related things?  I guess we need to wait and see how their roster ends up, but right now it looks nothing like a real contender.

They have like 14 million in cap space... If Boogie signs for anything around that number, I'll be shocked. Pelicans can afford to give him more than that.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I am happy for Rondo - he is always underpaid for what he actually provides a team. I am not happy he is joining the Lakers and would be devastated if he helps them beat us (or anybody) for a championship.

It looks to me like LAL is just trying to put together the best possible 'one-year' team this year to be competitive for Lebron and try again in FA next year when they will once again have a ton of cap space.

I am actually bummed about Lance - I thought he would have made a perfect Smart replacement.

True, but the Pels are also going nowhere fast in the West. Or maybe a S&T with the Pels?

They can still stretch Luol Deng and have over $20m in cap.

Guys, have you not seen The Departed? Rondo has convinced Magic to sign him and now will destroy Lakers from the inside.

If they stretched Deng's contract, they would have exactly the same amount of cap space they already had..

Was going off of your original quote that they presently have $14m in cap. Maybe Boogie takes a 1 year prove it deal with LA. Especially of NO isn't ponying up the money. All things being equal, where'd you rather play? On top of that, Rondo is the Boogie whisperer.

Lol, TP to your Boogie whisperer, I was actually drinking some coffee haha.

That would actually be smart for Boogie to do so. Rondo/LBJ will feed him easy shots, but I don't think it would be wise for NO to let both of their free agents walk away like that.

For what it is worth, Davis just bought a house outside of LA.

Quote
New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis has purchased a luxurious new mansion in California.

Per TMZ Sports, Davis spent $7.5 million on a Westlake Village estate that includes a home theater, gym, infinity pool with water slides and a basketball court.

It's a 90-minute drive to Staples Center, where the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers play. The Pelicans don't have much incentive to deal their star forward right now, especially after they just won their first playoff series last season for the first time since 2007-08 (as the Hornets).

Davis is also under contract for three more seasons, so it will likely be a few years before he could even entertain the possibility of playing basketball in Hollywood.

New Orleans made an offer to bring Rondo back, per source, but the Lakers offer was considerably better.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in advanced discussions with free agent C DeMarcus Cousins w/ recruiting help by recently acquired Rajon Rondo. It will come down to Pelicans/Lakers, a source tells me.

The Lakers standing offer to DeMarcus Cousins is a 1 year deal in the range of $10 million, I’m told.
