Imagine a world where the Lakers didn't trade D'Angelo Russell to move Mozgov's contract.  The Lakers' offer probably looks a lot better with an All-Star going to NOP.
does Russell develop the same though?

Hard to say, but there's still a good chance that he's better than any of the other garbage being offered by LA.

I think Kuzma would still be more valuable. But yeah that's it in terms of Russell vs. the rest.

I think Kuzma's perceived value is based in large part upon his rookie season.  This year he's been a chucker from outside, shooting only around 30%.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I like Russell better, but the Lakers got SUPER lucky in that deal by acquiring the pick that became Kuzma. If they had Russell, they wouldn't have Kuzma to offer.

And NOP is going to want the Lakers pile of garbage, why?

Down by 40+ to the Pacers without Oladipo.

Yeah, that has to be a bummer. They could have made slightly better options like Porzingis over Russell or Murray over Ingram, but they knew the Cs would have even taken Tatum first; talk about being all aboard the hype train for Ball.

I still think there's a chance this gets done and NOP is just making the Lakers sweat a little, but all of this is enjoyable to watch.

If I'm Demps, I hold out for 3 reasons.

1) Zion

2) Tatum

3) More offers

Don't get the Zion hype, outside of the usual overvaluing of draft prospects prior to the draft. I just don't think his game will translate well to the NBA against actual bigger, stronger, and faster men.

One thing that can’t be clearer- the Pels can see the team they’ll be right in front of their eyes.  Young of course, but there’s not much there.  They also got to see the young C’s drive the Celtics to game 7 of the ECF.

Pels can’t give up a dollar for 20 nickels, can they?

Beat by 42 by Indiana tonight.  Congrats Lebron - you and Rich Paul have destroyed your current team...

This was the best part - the Indy fans were chanting to Ingram on the free throw line “Lebron is going to trade you!” 😂

That is so good! I hope they do the same thing in Boston on Thursday!

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Russell, while immature, and once young made some mistakes. But hes a huge reason the Nets are in the playoff race..Hes dropping 19.6 PPG, 6.4 APG, and working harder on defense, and defensive rebounding more. (All in 29 mins!!!)

I like his game and I cannot believe the Lakers gave Mozgov that contract. I really think Russell would've benefitted from LeBron; could've been a nice duo.

--

Zion is dropping 22/9/2 with over two steals and two blocks per game. He can turn into lob city at any moment..

But hes super young and seems like his body is definitely NBA ready. I feel the same with Luka, like I do with Zion. It just really doesn't make sense lol.

Could you explain more what you find wrong with Zion, and do you think he can reach it?

I don't put stock in players'  NCAA stats. They aren't the best indicators of NBA success. Like you I have a bunch of questions regarding Zion and my concerns are more do to his obvious lack of certain skills that would make him so much better in the NBA.
