Yeah, other than maybe some anti-Kyrie bias, I'm not getting the "Trade Kyrie for AD" crowd. 

Multi-star teams are what wins championships in the NBA.  That's the landscape you're looking at here and its been that way for years. You team Kyrie up with AD.  You don't trade Kyrie for him.  Then you're back at square one searching for that 2nd star.  You don't trade Paul Pierce for Kevin Garnett.  You team the two up.

Everyone agrees with that.

What if we aren’t afforded that opportunity because New a Orleans decides they are moving him before the deadline?

Then Ainge may have to pick one or the other. And it’s not like we would not have anyone else, Horford is an All-Star and I believe AD would speed up Hayward’s return to that status as well.

But like I said in previous posts, it’s way too dangerous for Ainge to start dangling Kyrie because in this social media age, everything gets out. And once it does, I seriously doubt Kyrie resigns. So if he offers Kyrie to anyone, he HAS to deal him.

If I'm Danny, that's a bluff by New Orleans I'm willing to call.  I don't see it happening.

Like I said, I think it’s too risky for him to offer Kyrie anywhere because he’s only got one year and only a select few teams would give up enough for him. So the risk of shipping him leaking to the public is far greater than him actually pulling off two blockbusters in 10 days.

As far as NOP bluffing, maybe. If I’m Ainge, I tell Demps my best offer this week. Tatum, Brown, MEM pick, a couple of ours, maybe even Williams. That’s what’s waiting for you in July.

If they panic and take an inferior package next week, then yes, we live with it.

I’d just hate to see him land in LA. Even if they gave up everything (Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, Hart), they’d still be lethal.

Chemistry/personality meshing matters alot

I really think a lot of the chemistry issues are stemming from the youth and lack of defined roles.

The personality issues also seem to be coming from guys like Rozier and Tatum clashing with vets like Irving, Morris, and Hayward.

Both of those would be non-issues if AD came here, imo.

That's not 100% true. A teams ability to trade for him now and have 2 post season runs with Davis vs the 1 they would be guaranteed this next summer significantly increases his value for teams that don't know if they will be able to resign him. This menas there very well might be teams out there wiling to give up pieces they wouldn't this summer. Asking for a trade now expands the list of potential suitors significantly.

And not hat I ever thought this would happen, but asking for a trade now clearly means Davis isn't fixated on us as a destination. Maybe he would come here, but he has to know we can't make the trade now so ergo we likely aren't his preferred destination.

All this doesn't mean we can't get him, but I think the odds got longer.

I don’t think the extra playoff run will change too much, as they know the team most regard as having the best assets will enter the fray in July. As of right now, it’s the Lakers vs... nobody. Who else is going to pony up enough to actually make a run this May? Everyone else will have nothing left on the roster this season. Only the Lakers because of LeBron can make noise (and even they may be too thin for GSW).

If the deadline passes and New Orleans starts fielding offers in the summer, other teams will be there and compete with Boston. The absolute best thing they can get now is picks for June, but they really can’t get lotto picks from anyone other than us (after the draft).

I do agree about your second point, that if he explicitly told NOP this, he’s not dead-set on Boston and Boston only. I could certainly see LeBron and Paul getting in his head, but knowing he’s ready to move now and Boston not being possible is not encouraging. We could still be the preferred, just not his only destination.

All that only actually matters if you assume they want young players and picks. Maybe they do, maybe they want proven players like San Antonio did. or maybe they just don't like our young talent as much as we do. It absolutely does matter that who ever trades for him gets two playoff runs, it will open up the field a lot more than this offseason where you only have him for one year. It puts more teams in play. Again, I still think we should be the favorite probably but as f now I'd pick the field.

Lakers season is not going well.   They are under the pressure as always with LeBum to get the best play in the league .

He’s been linked to the Lakers/Celtics for quite some time. I said we may still be preferred, but not exclusive. By coming out with this trade demand before the deadline, he’s clearly fine going elsewhere.

And yes, LeBron+Davis does sound like a championship caliber team to me.

Exactly. Ship out the "young guys" and let them chase accolades and playing time since that's their priority. That solves the issue. AD and Kyrie are already friends off the court.

It's interesting that the story of Lebron's camp wanting Walton fired was circulating over the weekend and now this. 

This feels like the 2008 lakers when they signed Gasol a week or two before the trade deadline.

If conversations between teams have gone far prior to this, in anticipation of it, then a deal could happen in next days.
If conversations have not been extensive, then it will be hard to get it down now.
Won't be surprised either way.

As a huge Jrue Holiday fan, I would be okay with a mega blockbuster that gives the Pels enough even if Kyrie bolts...an overpay in other words.  Though I'm sure some will hate it.  As I said I'm a big Holiday fan and think
he fits the Celtics perfectly.  He can play 1 and 2 and is a tough defender with good offense (good enough at least).
I'm also nearly as high on Brown as Tatum (love both).  This draft has excellent wings to back up Brown, Morris and Smart.
