I'm at peace with this.

After seeing KG struggle with HIS injury after our visit to Utah in 09 I do NOT want to see Hayward try to rush back at nothing less than 100%.

Seeing KG come back for that 09-10 season....seeing him limping in that Game 7 loss to the Lakers....STILL not quite recovered...I do NOT want to see Hayward go through that or worse..

KG is a warrior and so is Hayward but take your time, GH. Get yourself right.

When it first happened i all but assumed our season done, will contend in east, make playoffs but not be making much noise.
Proven wrong!  So to me anything like this is icing on cake.  Next year full team, hopefully baynes and smart back, tatum and brown a year older

Yeah. That doesn't even get into old-time Celtics stars who ruined their careers coming back too soon, such as Kevin McHale's foot problems and Larry Bird's back issues, both of which shortened their careers and limped off into the sunset for not sitting out enough when the injuries happened.

Ugh. I remember that effing play like it was yesterday. Another alley oops attempt too. Cs need to ban alley oops. KG was never the same after that. Convinced they would have steam rolled everyone an route to another championship had he stayed healthy.

just a psychological tactic by CBS against the enemy.

The Lakers were tough in that 08-09 year. We got swept even with the Celtics Big 3 intact....

No doubt.  Pretty sure Gordy is playing in a highly competitive, underground game in Thailand right now

I could see that.

After all, Doc Rivers turned KG loose on the CHI Bulls in that 2008-09 series. I don't think it affected Ben Gordon, though - dude torched us that series and almost beat us by himself.

He was a modern day Andrew Toney.

I don't think Hayward is wired like KG though LOL. He dresses as well as KG did. Dude's got some style.

Hayward himself not ruling out a return.

I have no doubt he is going to have a monster year next season...even if he doesnt come back this year. Gorman said he is working out at the facility 9 hours a day. hayward returning with added growth of Jaylen/Tatum should put us in the title hunt next year IMO. (I know some will say we are in it this year, but I dont think we will have enough this year)

Gordon/The celtics are both taking the right approach. Brad/Ainge are saying he is out because they dont want to put pressure on hayward to return before he's ready.

and Hayward is doing everything he possibly can to come back this year, and if he doesnt...well he doesnt.

With the way GH talks about it, especially in light of Stevens' comments that he is not returning, I think GH is just using the thought of playing again ASAP as motivation to keep up the daily grind.

I don't think he's coming back.  Nor do I want him to.  We're not legit contenders till next season, why risk further injury? He could easily get hurt again if he's not in it 100% psychologically or physically, and that was a serious injury.

I had the same injury of my arm/wrist. Probably only halfway to recover after.... 2 surgeries (3rd soon), staph infection that spread to the bone (daily IV antibiotic tx), plates and screws, now a 12 inch rod in my arm, PT 2 days/week, etc.  I haven't returned to eating applesauce yet, let alone $100mil professional activities.
