YES!!! GREAT NEWS TO HEAR ON A FRIDAY!!!  8)

Now trade for Tyreke Evans and throw a FIESTA!!  ;D

This team + Monroe and Evans can beat CLE as long as they play up to their level of competition, or at least make it a competitive 6-7 game series.

Didn't have to trade anything. Awesome!

Like Monroe since the early Detroit days.

When is the last time the Celtics had a guy who could actually REBOUND? Baynes, Zeller, and the O'Neils could give 5-6 a night and KG lost touches here so it dipped below 9-10 a game.

LOVE IT!
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Wow. Solid pickup.

And Danny STILL managed to lowball him by only giving up $5 mill of the $8.4 we had to give. Way to not bid against ourselves as many teams would've done.

That lower price means two things primarily:

1) Danny will not be using his non-Bird rights as a major salary filler for next year’s off-season, which I always found dubious.

2) Danny has saved room to add more salary at the deadline while steering clear of the luxury tax.  Using the full $8.4 million would have left the Celtics with less than a million to work with under the tax.  Now they’ll have about $4.3 million.

He's a genius. What does he have up his sleeve next?

I love having Danny as our GM but I'm sure Danny does very little without Mike Zarren's input.

If he can somehow get Evans....Boston is stacked on the bench

Just a question for anyone... Where does Tyreke fit with Kyrie, Rozier at  the 1, Brown and Smart at the 2 and Tatum/Semi/Morris at the 3?

I want him, just wondering who has to sacrifice large amounts of minutes. I'm sure he'd get more than the combination of Larkin and Nader's minutes.

The fact Ainge signed him to less than the full DPE seems to be a strong indicator Monroe is only here for just this season.

Can't imagine Monroe signs for a measly $7m this summer.

This also allows Boston to cut down on Horford's minutes. Won't run him into the ground

Now this is going to make Horford's job so much easier. he is going to feast on offensive rebounds and scoring in the paint. Teams either have to collapse or watch wide open 3s all day.

Happy dance!!

Now add a scorer. Tyreke looks good. I wonder about Lou. He definitely has a longer history of being a volume scorer and he hasn't had the same health issues that Tyreke has had. Is he available for a reasonable price, and does he make sense from a team standpoint - does he need the ball all the time?

Edit - I just got "Brad Stevens" status for my 250th comment. Shouldn't Stevens be higher? Like, at least 1,000?

$6 million, and it makes it less likely for sure.  But there’s not a lot of money out there this summer, so we’ll see.

I think Evans may fit what Brad likes more...size and ability to switch defensively and offensive versatility.

Personally, I like Lou Will...him and Monroe would give any 2nd unit fits.
