Why does anyone think that saris would be better than olynyc in a playoff team?
Because he would be. I like KO, but the dude tries to play like a PG in a Awkward Centers body. Saric is an athletic PF, shoots well from the out side, can go to the hoop, and plays good D.
He's also on the beginning of a rookie contract which frees up some money.
KO shoots better from the outside, is just as good going to the hoop and is probably a better defender right now.
KO is also at least as good as a passer.
Saric is a more confident shooter. He is also a better ball handler and passer than KO.
Marcus Smart is a confident shooter. It doesn't really matter. KO is a better shooter than Saric.
He's not lights out better than KO. And he has a smoother offensive game. And he's probably going to cost you at least 8mill less a year for the next couple seasons. This is more a business move than basketball move. Might have to move from KO for Hayward, and if you get Saric in a move with the 3rd pick, it's the right move.
You could even flip the 3rd and Crowder for Butler. That would take Miami out of the Hayward game.
Saric? no ... he is still under rookie contract until 2019/2020
reread the bolded. He is saying Saric will be cheaper.
Also, Ive got to say youve got not idea what you are talking about.
Saric shot 31% on 3s this year. Kelly is a career 37% shooter and shot 35% this year. Kelly is the better shooter.
Kelly is also a better passer and at the moment, a better defender.
Dario has a knack for clutch plays and has the potential to be a better defender than Klynyk while also relieving us of the mental roller coaster Klynyk provides.
he is also younger than Klynyk.
You can advocate bringing Saric on without inventing facts.
What facts are I inventing? I said he wasn't lights out better, and I'm going by this years numbers because it's unfair to compare averages when KO has a few more years on him. If you went by last seasons, then yes, KO is much better shooting 40% (which is a big part of the 37%avg) to Sarics 31%. But KO shooting 35% to Sarics 31% doesn't make you keep KO for 10 or 12 mill to Sarics 2+mill
No facts were invented, just my perspective of what "lights out better" is different from yours.
I was replying to Triboy. Not you.
You have no idea what you are talking about, when you say KO is a better passer than Saric.
You can use whatever metrics you want. KO is a good passer for his size. Saric is better (better ball handler also)
Defensively both have their plus and minuses. Comparable. Overall like Sketch5 pointed out ... if you can save on not resigning KO (overpaying) and bring in a cheaper nice looking prospect like Saric...
that is positive
My fault. I misread. Sketch5 also made stuff up. Per 36 numbers for steals blocks assts and tos:
a/to:
Saric: 3.1/3.1
Olynyk: 3.5/2.2
3p%:
Saric: 31%
Olynyk: 36%
steals/blocks
Saric:1.0/.5
Olynky 1.0/.7
drtg
Saric: 109
Olynyk:107
You said Saric was a better passer: statistics disagreed.
Sketch5 said Saric could shoot it stats disagreed.
Sketch5 said Saric could play good d and didnt list that as a str pretty much all defensive metrics favor Olynyk.
saric is younger cheaper, and projects to become probably a better player because they are close now, but if you are gonna praise Saric's defense, shooting and passing while comparing him to Klynyk, youve got to note that right now kelly is better in every single area.
Saric is probably a better ballhandler, but not by much as Kelly's handle is shockingly good and he might be at his best when he does drive the basketball. those point gaurd roots kick in.
If you want to claim Saric is better cite 3 things: 1 age, 2 contract, 3 mentality.
not shooting, passing and defense.
