WhatI like about the quote is it shows that not every top of the draft rookies feels that being given minutes to "get theirs" and develop is the best nor most rewarding way to spend their first year. Jaylen, by all accounts is a very smart individual with a good BBIQ, yet has struggled at times to play well enough to get minutes on a deep playoff team. I can't see any other rookie this year that could have gotten much more minutes on this team.
I think Jaylen believes that he was better served in the long run playing on a playoff bound team having to concentrate on things like efficient offense, not forcing your offense, playing within the scheme and playing great one on one AND team defense. Most high picks concentrate on one thing, it seems, and that's scoring. Good for Jaylen to have the self awareness to see this experience has been better for him.
