Any doubts now if celts made the right choice between brown or ingram??

I bet brown will end up being a better two way player than Simmons as well

We didn't make any choice, he was the one left. And, as you say, thankfully it happened this way  :D

Whoa. That, mi amigo, is patently inaccurate. Chitown were itching for Dunn and we might have pulled the trigger on the Jimmy deal if we weren't so enamored with Jaylen. Remember, neither Wade nor Rondo had signed at the time of the draft, and it seemed likely the Bulls were going to blow it up, and go all in with Dunn. Also, I think it is unreasonable speculation to say that Danny liked Ingram more than Jaylen (Simmons, fine, I'll grant you that, but only him); we worked out Jaylen a HEAP, admittedly possibly realizing that the Fakers were probably going with Brandon, but still. And about 20-30% of this forum were on the Bender bender. There were a few scattered Chriss fans, and the temptation to go with the kid who was super NBA ready with an insanely high floor (Murray) would have been VERY tempting, given IT's rise to stardom that year.

Yet ANOTHER pick that Danny will have to wait at least 3 or 4 years before he will get any credit..  ::)
it could not have been more clear that Dario was referring to the "choice between brown or ingram" where he is correct that there was never a choice.

Yes, apologies. I didn't read the quoted text properly.

I still hazard a guess that Danny takes Jaylen before Ingram even with the 2 pick...

If Iggy at 6'6 can do a nice defensive job on Lebron.. maybe Jaylen can take the assignment asap/moving fwd

Celts have nobody else that could hang with Lebron..actually there arent many in the world...that is how athletic/explosive/strong Brown is

He lacks motor, but Jae defends LBJ in stints as welll as anyone in the league...

Brown lacks motor?

No, I'm saying Jae lacks motor, but he can hang with LeBron in spurts..

if we do win this series, I would LOVE to throw Jaylen into the fire asap...he'll get burned by LeBron and there is no doubt of that but if he is going to be successful in the league he is gonna have to do it against the best. You're not going to improve if you don't get thrown into the fire.

I like that Jaylen can defend multiple positions. His length and athletic ability is also very nice. IMO we're seeing the tip of the iceberg on his offense. He'll be a borderline all-star in the future.

He still forces at the rim, he needs to trust his shot more. It's a matter of time before he replaces Crowder, if we don't sign a star at his position that is.

Side note: if we do move Jae, I really hope he becomes the next Andre Iguodala on a championship team other than Cleveland, like maybe San Antonio..

WhatI like about the quote is it shows that not every top of the draft rookies feels that being given minutes to "get theirs" and develop is the best nor most rewarding way to spend their first year. Jaylen, by all accounts is a very smart individual with a good BBIQ, yet has struggled at times to play well enough to get minutes on a deep playoff team. I can't see any other rookie this year that could have gotten much more minutes on this team.

I think Jaylen believes that he was better served in the long run playing on a playoff bound team having to concentrate on things like efficient offense, not forcing your offense, playing within the scheme and playing great one on one AND team defense. Most high picks concentrate on one thing, it seems, and that's scoring. Good for Jaylen to have the self awareness to see this experience has been better for him.

Anyone see this quote last night?

"Man, it's a blessing. Who would have thought? Last year I was going into the draft and now I'm here with the Celtics with a chance to close out a game 6 and go to the ECF. I'll take that any day over going to a team and playing 30-35 minutes, whatever the case may be. I'm happy im in a role and contributing to my team."

Holy cow, this dude just turned 20 this year. This is exactly what the guys on KG Area 21 were talking about and what it means to be a Celtics. Sacrifice for the good of the team. I hope this kid is here for a long time.

Yep. You just gotta like him. Real nice work by Danny.

I wish Brad would use him a little more.

If Ingram was there we would have drafted Ingram.

I wanted Buddy Hield at the draft and thought we may trade down to get him. Hield made 2.5 3's a game at 43% when he was traded to the kings.

But we really need Jaylen to step up for next year. If DA sees Jaylen's game elevate over the summer AND if we draft Fultz, then I would understand if DA wanted to go in a new direction and trade IT/AB/Crowder and etc.
A Fultz/Jaylen backcourt would be the longest in the NBA and a top defensive one too in a year or so.

No. Danny clearly have his eyes set on Jaylen even if the landed top 2 pick. Can't find the link but I remember him stating that.

Yeah. he was in a slump. but he's starting to come out of it, and having a long wing that can defend is helping slow down Wall and Beal.

His slump has nothing to do with his not playing. His stupid mistakes on defense do. He even had some bone headed plays in the win the other night. He has to become more self aware defensively and make the right switches and moves before he earns more time, especially in the playoffs.

From a Chris Forsberg ESPN story about Jaylen:

Quote
Consider this: The Celtics own a defensive rating of 94.6 during Brown's 69 minutes of floor time this series. That's the best number on the team and by a noticeable margin. (Rozier is a still-stellar 99.1 and is nearly 4.5 points worse than Brown.) Boston's defensive rating for the series is 110.1.

According to ESPN Stats & Information research, Brown had limited Washington defenders to 28.6 percent shooting (4-of-14) and 12 points over 17 total plays through the first four games of the series. Synergy Sports data suggests Brown is allowing 0.783 points per play this series, a number that, if maintained, would rank him behind only Bradley on the Celtics this postseason.

Kind of a limited sample size, to be sure, but encouraging. I hope Brad gives the Rozier/Brown tandem some more burn—their speed and athleticism seem disruptive.

The energy, speed, athleticism  and length  of both players gives the team a jolt especially when brought in together. Washington needs to be run into the floor with those quick crazy hockey Brad was throwing out in the 1st have of game 5.  Bring them on with 3 minutes left in 1st quarter and let them run with the Wiz!!!
