Miami Heat sign Nick Richards on a one year minimum contract to be their 3rd string center. I expect him to play a good amount for a 3rd stringer because both Giannis & Bam miss games every year and Miami have no other centers on their roster. Only PFs (Portis, Jovic).

Miami also brought back Keshad Johnson on a two-way contract. Three rotation worthy SFs ahead of him (A Wiggins, P Larsson, S Fontecchio) so Keshad probably won't play. Looks a decent player though. Plays hard.

Orlando signed Malaki Branham on a two-way. He may have a chance at playing time. Orlando do not have much wing depth. Anthony Black is their only real wing on their bench.

Wolves trade Josh Green to Utah for Cody Williams and Jon Konchar (who they will cut). I understand it from Minnesotas perspective, as they need to free up money after signing Kuminga, but I dont get it from Utahs standpoint. I thought they had high hopes for Cody Williams - I guess not.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading Josh Green and cash to the Utah Jazz for Cody Williams and John Konchar, sources tell ESPN.

The Timberwolves are expected to keep Cody Williams, the No. 10 pick in 2024, and waive-and-stretch John Konchar, sources said.

They found a home for Josh Green on a Jazz team that wanted an additional 3-and-D wing; moving his $14.7 million deal gives Minnesota the salary space to sign Jonathan Kuminga using the taxpayer midlevel exception.

I was a bit disappointed at first that they were trading Josh Green for a non-rotation caliber player but I see that Kuminga is essentially the player they are trading Josh Green for. Moving his contract to make room needed to sign Kuminga. So that is not bad.

Good deal for Utah.

Cody Williams has shown nothing. Konchar is a replacement level player. Josh Green is a legit rotation wing.

That center position is a problem without Walker Kessler. I suspect JJJ splits his time between PF and C and plays about 20mpg at center. With Lauri starting at SF but playing more minutes at PF as well. That will free up a lot of minutes for Okogie & Ace Bailey to share.

I don't know if that team is good enough to be a playoff team or not.

Both versions have a light bench. Light on experience. Some decent to good young talent there. Only 1 true dependable (?) bench piece on either option though -- Ayo or Kuminga.

I do like Beringer to step up to the challenge. I am confident he will play well. Terrence Shannon is more of a question mark. Certainly talented but still figuring out how to use it and be consistent. Bones Hyland played well last year but it was the first time in his career he played well. Jaylen Clark is decent but reluctant (scared) to shoot which harms his effectiveness. I don't think much of Trey Lyles.
